Just adding my story to this thread.
Bought a B6 passat 2.0 wagon last weekend and it had a bit of a rough start when we bought it.
It was bought from a dealer in sydney and we flew in from Hobart to drive it back so we agreed that the dealer would book it in for a service in Hobart to get the start checked out.
Car got booked in to get read out by VW and they told us it needs a new cam shaft sensor and that will fix the start.
VW also told us the injectors will be replaced free of charge when the sensor gets replaced.
After reading a lot about the injectors on this forum, I'm very happy VW is doing this no questions asked.
Hopefully early next week the car will start perfect again and have brand new injectors no cost to us.
Very happy so far.
Lets hope all goes well.

My BKP 07 Passat died in an underground carpark a few months ago. Had to 4WD it out then tilt tray to dealer.
Austral VW replaced 4 injectors under warranty. (This engine has also had the cam shaft sensor fail, which is a huge pain to replace).
A couple of months later the engine starts making a huge racket when idling but is ok when accelerating or decelerating.
Back to Austral. Injector 2 is sticking so they replace all 4 injectors (paid by VAG Aus). They aso noted that the dual mass flywheel seems to be failing ($2735 quote from Austral even though the after market part is about $600).
Still a nice car to drive though.

Tragic story here of how a lady died when her 2008 Golf allegedly slowed and was hit behind by a truck: Car's Speed Slumped Before Fatal Crash
Must admit that the first thing I thought of when reading the paper was whether it was a 125 kw diesel.
I've emailed the writer of the article details of the injector issue for his information.Last edited by stickshift3000; 28-05-2013, 12:32 PM.MKV Golf 2.0 TDI DSG Sportline. Just nice.

I guess we will never know.
IF, and it's a big if, the injectors failing caused the car to shut down, if she had it in manual and didn't put the clutch in when it shutdown, it would decelerate quickly, but otherwise, it would just roll along.
Being on the phone would create a delay as well I suspect.
Odd that a 31km/h crash caused a death though...

Well the recall is happening, and I'm also told VW will reimburse people who have paid to have these affected injectors replaced in the past.2014 Skoda Yeti TDI Outdoor 4x4 | Audi Q3 CFGC repower | Darkside tune and Race Cams | Darkside dump pDPF | Wagner Comp IC | Snow Water Meth | Bilstein B6 H&R springs | Rays Homura 2x7 18 x 8" 255 Potenza Sports | Golf R subframe | Superpro sways and bushings | 034 engine mounts | MK6 GTI brakes |

I had the injectors replaced on my 2007 (one of the first in Aust) GT TDI Sport after a letter from VW asking me to take the car to a dealer to have this done. I noticed that there is no reference to this being done in the service book nor any evidence of a sticker on the car to indicate this.
Since then I have bought a Mk7 TDI and I'm wondering if I should give the GT TDI (it's done 67K) to my daughter to replace her 2005 TDI Comfortline which has done 120K. Seeing the injectors have been replaced the main other issue that could be a problem would seem to be the DPF Would the 103 TDI be more reliable in the long run?

Mate all I know is what Ms Fyfe, the Age reporter, told me that " the head of VW said they will recall the diesel injectors, and reimburse people who have paid for them in the past." Await the public recall, which I assume will happen soon once the bigger DSG recall is properly underway, and approach VWA. If anyone gets an official letter, please scan it and post the details, I know a lot of ex owners who, like harlie, would like a VW cheque for injectors, looms and labour!2014 Skoda Yeti TDI Outdoor 4x4 | Audi Q3 CFGC repower | Darkside tune and Race Cams | Darkside dump pDPF | Wagner Comp IC | Snow Water Meth | Bilstein B6 H&R springs | Rays Homura 2x7 18 x 8" 255 Potenza Sports | Golf R subframe | Superpro sways and bushings | 034 engine mounts | MK6 GTI brakes |

Hi all,
been away from this site for a while intersting to see whats been going on.
In referance to all of this, I had a failure with my injectors on my 08 Gt TDI.
I was suspect of my injectors having small issues, Took it back to VW (under
warrentie, and of course. All OK, no fault). A particular day, I was rear ended
on the freeway. An irate driver was playing smartass, basically playing chicken,
etc. Eventually I tryed accelerating out of the way and injector issue. I got
ramed and pushed off the Freeway. (Reported issue to Police, but usual
disinterest "He says, She says). I was covered by my inshurance, claimed againt
him. But car was going again. Much after repair, agian injector fail? But again it
did restart. The next morning, the car would not start. In a nutshell, Out or
Warrentie (by time, not millage). VW agreed to replace the injectors and harness.
All at no cost to me. This Im guessing was all about 6 plus months ago. I did call
Head office before returning the car, explaning the past issues and more. To my
suprise they responded well.
Back then, I heard that there was a Class action in the UK for simlar issues and
VW lost? Funny how VW done all this out of warrentie for me, and after the UK
claims. Obviously VW is scared of such action happening here. Other issues, even
under warrentie VW had refused me. Main one being a DPF failure at ~75000 Km.
To be honnest , although these cars are great to drive and all that. They really
are overpriced peices or rubbish. Germam design, quality design and all that. Well
these cars do not live up to the hype. German reliability HA!
Since my car has been going well and now battery troubles again. Funny thing is,
Due to injury. I sold my LANDROVER to buy a new trouble free reliable car and guess
what? I will probly never buy a German car again (Twice bitten).
