Yep! The reason no-one really does them is getting the right hose is friggen impossible. Seems there is either the heat prone bunnings stuff, or way too thick serious stuff, and little inbetween.

I'm also getting advice as to the legalities of producing such a kit, and my responsibility should a warranty be refused because of the kit. Is a potentially scary thing.

Seems the idea is great but the implementation is a bit harder!

How "strong" (in legal terms) is a document that you sign to say that the person buying the kit takes full responsibility for the install and any subsequent damage...ie a document that fully absolves "Cogdoc" from any law suits? The only reason I ask is that many people that are willing to install a Provent are knowingly modifying their cars, and probably are fairly willing to sign away the responsibility to themselves as a condition of sale etc. Lets face it, if they didn't have a kit from you they are probably going to do the install themselves anyway, and maybe with worse quality materials or less research.

I don't want to turn this thread into a legal chit chat, but I'm just letting you know that I personally would be willing to sign such a document. Whether that document would hold up in court is another question?

Without any prejudice, the document would not be worth the paper it is written on , as most contracts can be challenged in court to the financial detriment of the defence. Someone can sign it and then take you to court and argue that they didn't have the legal knowledge to know what they were signing.

It is a shame that the design and products could not be put together as a personal project kit. Like this is the mounting bracket, this is the pipe, this is the provent, here are the directions install at your own risk.

Well I suppose if your Pirtek bro can't help it's not looking too promising at this stage. What are the specs of the hose you're looking for? ID/OD, max working pressure, min bend radius, temperature range.

Cog, have you looked into normal old reinforced rubber hose? Rubber is our friend. Its hard going getting any plastic hose that will do what you want, but a local rubber hose producer like Grommmet might be able to sell you 19mm reinforced rubber hose by the meter. You can use straight pieces of hose and join them with solid plumbing style bends - 45's and 90's as required. you unly need to use irrigation style ring clamps since there is basically no pressure inside the hoses.

Or he could use copper or aluminium pipe (paint it black) and use just short pieces of silicone hose to make the joints.

yes, silicone hose is more durable and heat resistant - but its also, literally, about 12 times the price. silicone hose is also WAY overkill for the application.

I have found hose!

And yep it's a thin walled twin layer silicon. Purosil, from Qld Diesel Service. Even our local huge hose world had nothing suitable, but they put me onto the diesel place. hey were very helpful, and I had a boner walking around the shop.

Rubber will go hard and break down, plus it's not flexible enough for the application. It's simply not listed anywhere as being suitable for fuel / oil. Needs to be done right!

So it comes in 1" or a much more svelt 3/4", which will clamp straight on the VW fittings, and easily stretch to the 1" provent / VW return fittings. It also comes in blue, blue or blue. Buy Aydan is right, it's friggen dear at $40-$60 per meter.

I have a meter of each in the boot right now, and will have a play over the weekend. I'm excited to finally have a proper answer for my own Provent install let alone any form of "kit", which I'm still wary of the legalities of.

Still, it's a win for any DIY Provent installs out there, and I'm sure you can get the same silicon hose off e-bay for about half the prices I paid today.

Cog, the standard breather piping on every car i've ever owned has been rubber..... even the boost piping on some OEM cars is rubber (older golfs, pugs, mercs....).

been following this since first post? I have a GT SPORT TDI and are interested, problem is I'm in Melbourne (But do visit Brisbaine). Do you have a ball park price in mind? and would be interested in more detail of the filtration method. Hope this goes well for you.
Re: legalitys, in Australia and most advanced countrys. It is illeagal to sign you'r rites away. Tested in court, individual rites stand, Inshurance companys, etc use this as a tool to minimise litagation. It probly would be best as a "do it you'r self kit". Warrent the item, not the car or fitting. Dependant on pollution laws, etc. Note the item suitable for off road use only. Though every one will know it's intended use.
PS: You had a section referring to a DPF delite kit. Would be very interested in this but it's a bit pricey for me. Is it likley to latter get a kit to replace the DPF section only, rather than the complite exhaust. I have had no DPF problems, recently I used a blanking plate to block recirculation to the inlet. All was OK, till a day latter. 18,000Km and the first time my warning light came on. Removed plate, light still remained. After a good run, next day. The light went out. I expect this was coincidene and only was in regen mode? I've only driven the car in city traffic once, but noted at the time of fitting the plate, my inlet was gunked up with carbon.

Removed plate, light still remained. After a good run, next day. The light went out. I expect this was coincidene and only was in regen mode? I've only driven the car in city traffic once, but noted at the time of fitting the plate, my inlet was gunked up with carbon.

Because the emissions were out of range, after you put it back and driven for while, 1/2 hour trip where the emissions are in range and the ECM light will turn OFF automatically.

There is a product that clean the Inlet tract - MOTORCRAFT Combustion chamber and Induction system cleaner (suitable for petrol,diesel and LPG angines), Motortraders sell it.
