Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

Surely there are some ideas what it could be in these 5 pages.
I would be glad, if it was me, and you can always skip over the messages that are not on topic.
I know a lot of threads do tend to go off topic after a while, but there is generally a sensible answer posted at least once in the 5 pages

.... might as well close this thread as it's become a bit useless.
I went back to the beginning and had a look, there were a lot of useful, intelligent suggestions in the first two and a half pages, and quite a few of them were from the very same people you are saying made "your" thread useless

I find it quite amusing how often the person who made the original post decide they then "own" that particular thread (on a public, free, forum), and should have the right to decide what people should or shouldn't say on "their" thread

Generally the "hard" information arrives fairly early, and then when everyone has helped (for free, mind you), it starts to go off on various tangents, particularly when the OP hasn't responded to the useful suggestions for a while (as in this case).

To round neatly back to being "On topic", it's good to see you have decided to follow the advice given in posts # 2, 10, 17, 18, 23, 25, and 44, so I guess this thread wasn't really that useless after all

All the extra pages of so called crap are what keeps the forum interesting. If there were no helpful suggestions amongst the replies and all the posts were totally off topic, the thread would have been long anyway

OK, I have decluttered this thread. There were a lot of comments and banter here that I did not find offensive, but they added nothing to the thread and do not need to be archived forever in this forum.

If you could keep all the chat and banter in General Chat, where it eventually expires, that would assist in keeping the forum informative and our bandwidth down.

My response to the original poster is that it could be an EGR valve issue. I have seen a few G5s with this problem, usuallly with more ks, but who knows.

Get the car scanned and see if you have any air intake, throttle body, or egr cades.

I'm very prepared to donate $50 a year to up the bandwidth so I can continue to post my usual rubbish. Why don't we have a platinum membership with a T-shirt or something? The dirt bike site I frequent has this, and it's rather cool.

                              Careful Greg,

The mods might think you are being responsible or something and invite you to be a mod, then you'll be expected to "declutter" your own posts

I personally like to see a bit of light entertainment after the serious Q & A has been dealt with, it helps keep the regulars amused and awake and therefore still contributing. Answering the same old questions from newbies for the 17th time can get a bit boring after a while, and that is what you tend to end up with if everything is kept strictly technical and strictly "ON TOPIC".

Friendly banter is certainly much better than the irate flame wars we sometimes see on this forum.
