BP Ultimate diesel is also higher cetane rating than some other brands (particularly the cheaper "no-name" stuff). Cetane is similar to Octane for petrol.
If (and it is a very big IF) the engine was designed and tuned to take advantage of the higher cetane, it would be possible get more power and/or better fuel economy from a higher cetane (but it may damage your engine if you put lower cetane diesel into it).
IIRC the gas-to-liquid (GTL) diesel gave pretty good results in some trials (but was too expensive to make on a commercial scale).
