Dude when did you get those wheels?!
By the way.. There's always the extended warranty you can pay for at any time before the warranty period ends...

ASZ and BLT engines start with 96kW + can be chipped.
This page is cool: http://www.bitnet.ro/vw/models/
Presumably Erwin will tell what all the differences are between those and AXR.
My reading various web sites (not erwin) suggests stock:
Polo AXR has K39 KKK
Polo ASZ has BV39 turbo KKK. Golf 1.9 has GT1749V Garrett.
BLT has ?KP39 turbo KKK - some questions about undersized bearings on those resulting in failure. BLT is newer than ASZ though.
Check out power/torque curves + chippedhttp://www.bitnet.ro/vw/enginecodes/index.php?ec=asz plus you can see what other cars have that engine or others...
Power curve starts to peak out at around 3500 with torque dropping off rapidly, so I can't see much value revving past that - better to change gear. Even a racing diesel (R10) peak power is at 4000rpm.
I think (when I looked a few weeks ago) all VWs with ASZ and BLT engines have 6 speed gearboxes.
Polo AXR has a really tiny air intake - barely big enough to fit 4 fingers. I hope to find a rationale for that in Erwin....
Isn't the running out of revs a "diesel feature" caused by the high 19:1 compression ratios and compression ignition. New VW TDIs only have 16.5:1 compression - I was reading something recently about design advantages of lower compression - probably in this article on R10 engine which explained all the relevant design parameters (but I can't find the bit on compression ratios). http://pics.tdiclub.com/data/500/R10_tech_paper.pdf2015 Polo Comfortline 6M + Driving Comfort Package

Yep I concur, golfman has a KKK k39.
A small intake increases velocity, and it handy for cylinder filling at certain lower revs....in an NA car!! I'd say it's there in the polo to keep it quiet for all the grannies that buy them.
Turbo, same old rule, you want as little restriction as possible on each end!
Running out of revs is indeed due to the speed at which the flame front can happen without a spark.2014 Skoda Yeti TDI Outdoor 4x4 | Audi Q3 CFGC repower | Darkside tune and Race Cams | Darkside dump pDPF | Wagner Comp IC | Snow Water Meth | Bilstein B6 H&R springs | Rays Homura 2x7 18 x 8" 255 Potenza Sports | Golf R subframe | Superpro sways and bushings | 034 engine mounts | MK6 GTI brakes |

This paper http://www.icatconf.org/icat2000-200...t_ICAT2006.pdf talks of low compression providing benefits to both emissions and power density (without increasing maximum cylinder pressure) at the expense of cold starting (not really a problem in Qld!). See page 4/5.
This paper http://www.pierburginc.com/pdfdoc/pi...r_diesel_e.pdf suggests that to maintain reliabilty above 48kW/L, one needs a cooling gallery in the piston the top ring. Their fancy cooled and fibre reinforced skirt piston is good for 55kW/L.
Worth having a look around this thread on power enhancements on TDIclub.2015 Polo Comfortline 6M + Driving Comfort Package

some interesting facts there mate, thanks for that!
I have rectified the tiny intake by putting on a SEAT intake from Dub Addiction (shameless plug!) and it free'd it up a bit
Im definately thinking a nice panel filter will free flow up a tiny bit more as will my front mount IC. Which should hopefully stop my heat soak issues.
I short shift at 3500 already, except in 1st because it winds out to quick to change in time.
I wonder how much power the little turbo can flow?VW: it aint just a car, its a way of life

hey guys, forgive my ignorance, but i thought that this engine code was alh? or have i spent too much time looking up "2004 golf tdi pd engine" in search engines?
its just that i get the impression that the 1.9 tdi pd100 built in south africa (ours) is an alh running a garrett vnt15, whereas the tdi sportline pd130 (which we dont get here) is simply an alh with a garrett vnt17a?
or am i way off? lol.
ps hi to all. ive been off for a while. how was the maroondah dam cruise, melburnians?
