My 2008 GT Sport is becoming increasingly difficult to start. I've read dozens of post on various forums and found common surefire fixes that include replacing battery, starter motor, coolant temperature sensor, crank position sensor, cam position sensor etc. I'm reluctant to spend any more money on diagnostics so am just putting up with it. But one thing puzzles me. Everyone says the engine must be spinning at least 200rpm to start. Well mine spins well sometimes but doesn't't necessarily start. But if it barely turns over once or twice it is sure to fire immediately after. Why is it so?

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.
