Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

My Android ODB App is reportings max boost 24psi - no errors - goes like hell
(I assume that means ~10psi above atmospheric)

That will be 24PSI, if you take atmospheric away, it's 10PSI and then it would be less than standard. I reckon your app is already doing the maths for you.

So that gets him to at least 21-22psi, still too high for a standard tune.

Preman, are you sure VW haven't tested for a boost leak?

24PSI sounds about right. Mine peaks at about 26-27 before settling on low 20's. Some Golf R's run 30PSI.

Really, wow, I just thought 24psi was high for an engine with a compression ratio of 9.6

When I look at the raw data - it does not say 24 - so I think you guys are correct, the TorquePro software is doing calculations prior to display
