Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

33 psi (2.3 bar) is for 18" tyres on the Scirocco R.

38 psi (2.6 bar) is for 19" tyres on the Scirocco R.

Non-R versions have different tyre pressures again.

At the VW driver education day both the instructors (racing drivers) and the VW tech support team were saying ~38 psi for 18" and 19"
This gives good turn in feel and can increase tyre life/mileage

I was quoting the factory specs.

But there's no reason why one can't adjust the pressures to suit one's needs (full load, track days, different ride or handling response/feel, etc).

However, on public roads, it's never advisable to go below the factory specs. Or above the tyre's maximum inflation pressure (as stated on the sidewall).

Yes mate, understood, I was not having a go at your post

It's a good point about increasing tyre pressure for full load
I doubt many people do this but it's clearly detailed on my car (wagon)

No worries, just wanted to clarify/emphasise the source of the figures to avoid any potential/further confusion.

So anyone getting any proces for these tyres? I was considering the Goodyear or Pirelli's

Im about to place an order for some Michelin Pilot Super Sports from Tirerack (255/35/R19).

$1307US delivered via FedEX to my door. All up installed it should be sub 2k (roughly 1.1k savings)

P.S My original tyres have now completed 45k, mainly because I dont drive the car anymore.
