Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    What is that little switch (Answered: Internal Alarm Sensor Switch)

    I know I will get flamed asking this question as it is in the manual but i am too lazy to look.
    So here goes

    What is that little switch on the inside pillar, on the drivers side.

    I noticed it while detailing the R' couple of weeks ago and meant to post but didnt get around to it.

    Anyone...??

        That's the switch for deactivating the interior motion sensor for the alarm system. If you leave pets in the car, it is recommended that you hit that switch before locking the doors to avoid setting off the alarm.

            This ^^ i found out the hard way the first time i left my dog in the car while i ran into the corner shop to get some milk. Alarm was going off within 10 seconds because my dog decided to move.

              The exact same thing happened in my Polo haha.
              Damn dog, he's usually mega lazy.

                  I can assure you if you laeve your pet in th car the alarm I'll go off. After about 4 oops I've got into the habit of hitting the buttons as I leave. Otherwise you return to a rather embarassed looking dog

                    When you press the button, the color of the light in the button changes from red to amber to confirm that the movement sensor alarm is off.

                    You can achieve the same by pressing the lock button on your remote twice. That also deactivates the deadlock.
