Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Rocco's seem to draw attention no mater what the colour or the surrounding...I watched a guy walk into a pole the other day as he was too intent on looking at my car sitting at the lights... The benefit of dark tinted windows... he didnt see me PMSL...

It is Shadow Chrome which is able to be varied in how dark it goes... It is, I believe a more expensive option than just painting as it is a 3 part process so I will see what the pricing is like... that will determine if and when I get it done...

The pic below shows the colour really well... it is on a M3 wheel but I think it will suit the Talladega wheels...

That looks the bomb. I'm considering getting my Omanyts done in that finish on my GTI...

They all come into Australia with Bridgestone Potenza RE50A Tyres.... Yes... these are a performance tyre and they provide really good grip in the dry... reasonable in the wet.
The biggest drawback I find is they are quite a noisy tyre.
They are not a run flat tyre... and the Roc does not come with a spare. There is a kit in the boot which has a can of sealant and a little air compressor.

I am not expecting these tyres to last until the first real service (15,000), well at least not the fronts anyway...

I will be looking at either Michelin Pilot Sport or Continentals to go on as my next tyre...

Hmm. I have Potenzas on my GTI. 33000k and still 4mm tread. I drive quite aggressively.

I don't like them at all, but think they would last longer than 15k.

I had Conti's SC 3's on my Audi and loved them. Not a fan of these Bridgestones on the Scirocco at all - will be changing them to a stickier tire well before the first 15,000km service.
MY12 Scirocco R - slightly not stock

Haha.. is that a challenge to see if I can wear them out in the 15,000 km?

Seriously though... a standard Roc driven aggressively rarely brought up the TC light.... now I can have that light doing a good impersonation of an indicator light... and I am not just mashing the pedal either... so there is every chance these will wear much faster than on a GTI even an APR tuned one.

I'm sure it's possible to wear them in 15k. Launch control every light . I had a lot of wheel spin in my GTI. ALOT!

I've already ordered a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports. My personal fav tyre.

Local supply or from OS? Out of interest what sort of $$ are they?
