Yep... he has those lovely Alloy lower control arms as well.
How do the 255's look up close on the 9" rim? The 265 on the 9.5" almost look under tyred... not that a 30 or 35 profile is going to give you much in the way of rim protection anyway I guess...

Well, 265 for 9.5 I not under tyred at all. Some have different shaped side walls. The Michelin SuperSport have a very square side wall whereas my Pilot Sport 2 have a slightly tapered one.

Oh I agree that the 265 is not under tyred... just not much in the way of rim protection.. not that there will be too much of that on any 30 or 35 aspect tyre lol.

I remember my old Continental Sport 3's had a "rim" protection bead... not that it worked mind...

So how are Pilot Sport 2's for noise?

Go for the Super Sport for more rim protection. Seriously chunky sidewalls. In terms of noise both the PS2 and the SS is better than the OEM Dunlops. Out performs the Dunlops too in every aspect.

Seriously the best performance street tyres money can buy.

Should look good on a RB!

Have you thought of matte black?

Hmm you may have a point there.

Will need to see if I can find an image with the roc wheels in matte black. Thanks Bain!

just to try and help a little I've seen a RB golf R with the wheels done in matte black driving around and i don't think it looks nearly as nice as the gloss black... so id go with the gloss but thats my 2c

Yes the front suspension is a bugger for DIY. I swapped out the suspension in my mates Mk5 GTI last year - im assuming it would be very similar if not the same as the Scirocco as its based on the same chassis.

The rears are pretty basic and have the spring separate to the shock absorber. The fronts......what a mission. I had to make a custom tool to pry open the cradle that holds the bottom of the shock absorber (10mm allen key ground down using angle grinder and inserted into a socket to get leverage). I also helped my brother a few years ago change the springs on a Ford Fiesta and it had essentially the same setup on the front as the Golf - must be a Euro thing. All my other cars have been Japanese and just had 2x bolts holding the shock absorber in place at the bottom.

Bottom line - if your a handy DIY'er and have a friend to help, good jacks and axle stands etc, you can do it as a DIY. Otherwise, hand over some $$ and get a suspension place to do it for you.

This is the tool thing-a-ma-jig that you need to spread the cradel on the front suspension: http://www.autotech.com/product/tool....html?fromcat=

These cars dont have the standard setup of the more traditional coil and shock absorber that Im used to. The bottom end of the shock absorber sits in a cradle that needs to be pried apart to get the shock out.

Think im going to leave this to a professional. So, does anyone know a decent workshop I can take my car to in Melbourne? (would prefer a place that's done similar suspension - Golf R's and Audi TT's)

Today my R was re-mapped with the Revo Stage 1 and tuned up by George at VW Village in Kensington, NSW
No Dyno yet but from what I have read, it should give me around 300BHP.
From my limited driving this arvo, I can tell the car is sensational. Aggressive constant power up through the revs. A long (and seemingly endless) power curve in 3rd gear. 4th gear is huge! I forget if I even used 5th and 6th! hehehe
                            Very happy!

So 300bhp is going to run to around 225kw. Provided its usable and, it sounds like it is from your initial drive, then its going to be pretty potent. Are you adding other mods to accompany the Revo?
