You mean just in time to cruel Renault's Megane RS250? I'll still only believe it when I see a Scirocco with NSW plates on it. And I am aware that you may know more than most.....Originally posted by Umai Naa!! View PostGive it 4 months

Thats interesting, wonder who has applied for it and if they're willing to pay for RAWS approval? Can be quite an expensive excersise if the government want to do crash tests etc.... Will have to keep an eye on it.
I also wonder who much 'they' will sell them for and if people will be prepared to pay a premium for one, bearing in mind the Golf GTI and Scirocco TSI are the same price overseas, i wonder how much more the Scirocco will be worth by the time it is in Australia and road worthy etc, surely around another $10000?sigpic

I've just fired off an email to find out who it was, as I had mentioned the idea of bringing the Scirocco in a few months back to a prominent importer. Conveniently, they were already making preparations to get them approved and priced up, and were just running the clock out so to speak, to get the whole thing rubber-stamped.
As I said a page or so back, either way, they're coming!

The bloke who applied for the type approval through SEVS is a mate of mine. He runs a company called Avicco - http://www.avicco.com/
We were looking at bringing in the first one and then my wife decided that the $50-$60k would be better spent on renovating the house (damn I hate it when the reality train pulls in).
I seem to remember him saying the only hurdle left before getting one shipped in is whether or not it needs to have a side impact test. There is no Golf in my life. This is unacceptable...

Yeah, he left a comment on AUSmotive. I sent him an email asking for more info, but he hasn't replied as yet.Originally posted by squirrel View PostThe bloke who applied for the type approval through SEVS is a mate of mine. He runs a company called Avicco - http://www.avicco.com/

The MK7's will be out before the Scirocco ever makes it over, but hopefully VWA bring it in. Private imports may work out too expensive if the company want to make too much on each one.
Another thing to consider would be the wait for parts and insurance if you crashed one. I know it would share a lot of parts with the GTI etc, but things like body panels would be a long wait from Germany (i waited 12 weeks for an E30 rear quarter panel once).
