I have done it on a Mk6 Golf R, a Mk6 Golf GTI and a Mk7 Golf GTI. The Mk6 GTI would be the most similar to your Scirocco as both are front wheel drive and have a very similar setup of the turbo layout etc. Yes it is reletively straight forward, but you will need to have the car jacked up as you access the turbo muffler delete from underneath/drivers side front wheel area.
As long as you have a trolley jack (or ramps to drive up on) and basic tools like Torx bits and allen key bits then you will be fine. Im sure there are heaps of videos on Youtube and old forum posts to show you what needs to be done.
