  • Looks great Matt, wish it was lining up against my MK2 at wakefield this weekend! look forward to seeing it at the nats

Question.. Did the mk2 scirocco come out without the rear wiper? I would like keep the back of mine clean and light weight, so would like original glass without the hole for the wiper..

I believe the very early Mk2's had the rear wiper as an option, There was a post on the tex about some guy finding a rear screen without the hole.

best of luck finding one !!!
        Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

          • Yeah about time for an update Jay.

Changed the Turbo, which was blowing smoke and got sent a KO3s instead of a KO3, I kinda shrugged and bolted it up

I robbed a good aftermarket intake boot from an A3 we were wrecking and gave the computer a bit of a tweak. Fully programable baby

It then started blowing off each boost hose in turn. Grr. $200 worth of Pirtek Clams later and I reckon I could pick the car up with one of the boost pipes.

The thing cracks, its a weapon. The TDI gearbox is epic.

It almost doesnt matter what gear you are in it just pulls and pulls.

I overtook a couple of cars on the bypass the other saturday and the wind got under the crappy aftermarket sunroof and blew if off

The builders at the side of the road were treated to some crazy in a Delorean ripping his dangling sunroof off and throwing it in the boot.

This acellerated the what am I going to do with the aftermarket roof issue?

I`d like to lose the sunroof, but good luck finding a Scirocco roof in Australia.

What I did do was get the roof section of a Mk1 Passat, which had very similar dimensions and curves.

I took the car up to a master panelbeater friend of mine last week and just got these photos from him.

Now I need to think about what colour to paint it and who can do the job for me.

                      • So the scuttle panel was a bit ugly under the windscreen rubber.
There was a bad repair by the previous owner and some bog, so took the dash out so we can cut the badness out and reweld solid metal.

Car is looking pretty naked now. Gonna have to Tee up a painter asap, I`m not putting this puppy together twice.

Roof looks great in the flesh.

Yeah, he asked me about getting a section of scuttle for it a good few years ago, was a bit dodgey around the wiper holes from memory...

Interested to see how the new roof section looks Loon...

                            • So got the beast back with all the metalwork done.
It was a little ugly under the bodykit.

No rust now, all metal and all parts were fabricated, you cant even see the joins on the back of the panels!

Stripped it down a bit further, ready for paint. Poor old girl is pretty naked now.

There were holes here once, now there is metal

A few other bits got lost along the way!

Now it is at the paintshop, waiting to be beautiful as well as fast.

                              • Have you decided on a colour yet or are you going to surprise us ?

Hey Matt, just out of curiosity do you have all the appropriate trim pieces etc. for your Rocco? I could just imagine how difficult it would be to source all those specific little parts for it no doubt.
