Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Thanks for the reassurance, I was hoping that would be the case.
Bit the bullet and had the DSG tune done today. Feels a lot more refined and changes gears sensibly. It matches the power now. ECU,TCU and Suspension are now in sync.

Waiting for the dump pipe to go to stage 2.

    thanks again.

Has been interesting reading your blog. Wish I had read it earlier as I could have offered you my high flow cat miltek system just removed from the car.

I was really excited to find out that on the Audi s3 that the stock intercooler is so light and we'll made.

I'm doing an E85 conversion with secret secret billet turbo build (sourced locally) so I'm really interested to see your dyno results. Unfortunately I have to run a 36mm restricted which will hold me back.

sirrocos in my opinion are just as cool as Audi's and hair dressers don't drive them.

G'day Bruce! If I remember correctly we chatted at Winton a month or so back, you were racing the Clio and we had our AE86.

Nice fabrication work on the new exhaust and thanks for the offering your Milltek!
Good luck with your build, keep me posted. E85 will certainly make a big difference.

You're most welcome. A good TCU tune makes a world of difference to the drivability of these cars.

Which dump pipe did you choose?

My Roc finally made it onto the dyno for a custom tuning session!

With a fresh blend of E30 (98 + 30% E85) in the tank it managed a healthy 256kW at the front wheels. Enough power and torque that the Nankang AR-1 semi-slicks were struggling to maintain grip at 4000rpm.

No dyno sheet of the final run as I had to leave before the tuning session ended. But here's one of the earlier runs during the middle of the session - it now makes 25kW extra in the mid-range and 17kW extra up top.

The front left corner of the Rocco engine bay is a complete mess and looks ugly. So armed with a sheet of 1.0mm gloss carbon and a dremel I set out to try to improve the look.

I also fitted the OSIR carbon door handles and DSG surround. Click image for larger version

                    Apologies its been a while.

Ordering in an APR down pipe and APR intercooler, since APR tuned, was thinking of matching the hardware with the software.

I did read up on possibly changing the Turbo outlet pipe (aka pancake pipe) with the CTS turbo outlet pipe and also possibly replacing the throttle pipe also with CTS gear. The general discussions indicate that its neither here nor there but since the IC will be going in, it might be easier to do it at the same time.

I read in your original post that you installed the CTS throttle pipe, did you also replace the turbo outlet pipe? Is it worth doing?

Concerned it may not mate up to the APR IC.

I will probably stop at stage 2 (i.e. without the HPFP). I intend to track the car and too much torque in the mid-range would be counterproductive on a track with a FWD.
