My car was due soon but I had been making calls about the new Satnav System that was just released in Europe. I got a call this morning that the Satnav was available for new cars being built now. My car was getting ready for shipping but they told me if I want I can add the new satnav system but it would be like making a new order!!

So now my car will be here in Febuary but it is getting the new Touchscreen Satnav system. I had to pay $700 more but I am getting the windblocker free since I have to wait. New Satnav system has touch screen, 30GB hard drive, Memory card slot, Bluetooth standard and I think it can play DVD movies

So I do not mind the wait really, the Passat can keep me busy till my baby arrives

I waited from May 'til now for my car. I envy your patience. To almost have the car and to resolve to wait for the extra features must have required will power. I was pleased that while I waited I was "upgraded" to the 2008 model which meant an MP3 compatible cd player.

I rarely go anywhere that would justify a Satnav/GPS for the car. I use a little hand-held Garmin eTrex. It has functions that are useful in the car such as route planning and fixed location speed camera alert/alarm. It advises when I'm approaching a red light or speed camera and alarms if I'm speeding on the approach. It is great for hiking too and cost a fraction of the built-in car GPS. I don't get the big screen, touch screen or the voice directions though.

Yeah it was a tough choice but I thought it would be best. There are 2 main reasons.

          1. I put pretty much every option on the car so wanted the new sat nav system. I would have felt bad after that I did not get it I wanted it due to hard drive, DVD movie playback, MP3 playback, built in bluetooth system and you can even watch TV on it.

          2. Building new house so I would have had to keep the EOS outside where my current car is compared to being in the garage like in the new house. The Passat sits in the garage for now

            waiting waiting

First of all g'day all, these forums are a wealth of information, I am hoping I can get an answer to my question.
I ordered a tdi eos individual (black) in the 3rd week of Jan 2008. I am told to expect delivery some time in April. My question is: how long, approximately after placing an order, should one expect to see a vin number. I realise that an exact answer is unlikely, but a ball park would be good, so I can badger the folk I ordered it from without seeming unseemly.

            Thanks

                Welcome A/C,

In an ideal world allow 7 days from VIN allocation to production......14 days after production for shipping from Portugal to Bremerhaven.....45 + - days for shipping to Melbourne......14 days from Melbourne Port to dealer handover for a total of 80 days (min)

You should have your VIN number approx 80 days before delivery. I would think that your dealer should have your VIN number right now for the April delivery to take place.

Peter thanks so much for your very helpful reply, I am kind of expecting delivery to blow out to May sometime - this seems to be the way the cookie crumbles at the moment.

                    'nother quick question

I badgered my dealer for a vin, what I got was a photocopy of the comm form
with a vin scawled on the bottom. my question is anyone know what a "light & sight" package is ?
                    this is listed under equipment.
If there is anyone here with access to the vw system the comm# is 572092
any info on likely delivery date gratefully received.
                    Thanks

                      Argghh !! VGA suxxx

I cannot believe these ratbags, I had been told to expect delivery early April, so accordingly on the 2nd April ( heh I'm no fool) I email and call the dealer to establish when delivery will be. After doing this every day for a week and getting no reply, not even a gee , we're sorry . I email the MD of VGA, I receive this gushing email, along the lines of: "my gosh, I am soo pleased to hear from you, I believe my toes are twinkling !".
I get a call from the head of distribution:
expect yer car early June, dono whats up with that nasty dealer, this is all in their computer. So I call the dealer and say please explain why I have to talk to the MD of VGA to get a tiny thing like a delivery date. They basically say: those lying hounds, this stuff aint in our computer, and scum like us are not allowed to talk to the MD. Well they got the scum part right. Either they are completely computer illiterate, or they are using a Sinclair ZX80, perhaps they should use a blackboard instead, or a piece of paper !! I did manage to wrangle some compo out of the deadbeats. I better not say what or every one will want one <<end rant>>. Phew! I'm glad thats off my chest. Blackguards !!

Why do I feel an enormous sense of Déja Vu?

I trod a similar path to you when I bought my Jetta, ordered in early April, delivery promised for June (told it was on the boat when I ordered), went in a fortnight before due date to confirm exact date only to be told my car was due to come off the line the next week! Finally got it in September and never did find out who got the car that had been allocated to me.

One day when I have a spare hour or two to kill I'll write up the whole sad story...all I can say is that it is only the fact that the car is so good that I am not turned off VW forever.

                        Cheers

Delivery Date for EOS TSI with DSG (ie Automatic)

I placed an order in rural NSW on 19 Feb 08 and have been advised that delivery will be before 30 June (18.5 weeks). Is that a reasonable delivery date give the list of accessories?

If you want to find out for yourself where your car is up to, follow the process in this thread (it's for a Skoda, but it is pretty much the same for a VW). You'll need the correct VIN :

Unless there are supply problems, it shouldn't matter what accessory/ies you specify.

We picked up our Eos seven days after we ordered it....because the dealer already had it in stock!.....we originally wanted a red DSG,but the dealer was honest and warned us it would be a six months wait......and of course, being the impatient baby boomers we are,we chose the red manual they had on the lot.We learned the hard way about waiting for a dealer to deliver on a promise when we bought our last motorcycle,we only ever buy anything anymore unless we can see it in the flesh,we then know exactly what we are getting.Sure,we might not get all the features we might want, but we are willing to compromise on that by bargaining with the dealer to get a better deal.It is 2008 plated, but we bought it end of January,so that didnt worry us.......I suppose the bottom line is...we have ours and a lot of you dont!.....sorry to rub it in,they are a fabulous car,and absolutely gangs of fun!....Cheers Jim
If we agreed with you.....we would all be wrong
