  • Owners waiting for Eos delivery

Thought i would start a new thread for updates from owners waiting for delivery.

Original schedule from my dealer when i ordered, was production week 10-13 2007 (proposed production by 31 March)

    Actual Production date 27 March

Dealer paperwork from dealer & VWA confirmed
Shipping to Aus from Bremerhaven on the Don Juan..... Departure 31 March ...... didn't happen (no surprise as 4 days was unrealistic time frame for transport from Setabul to Bremerhaven)

Schedule of available shipping after the Don Juan
    Taronga..... Departure 04 April......didn't happen
    Tamesis......Departure 11 April......didn't happen
    Tarifa.........Departure 12 April......didn't happen
    Tampa........Departure 23 April......didn't happen
    Tombarra....Departure 26 April......didn't happen
    Tarago.......Departure 02 May.......didn't happen

Still sitting at Bremerhaven on 4 May

    Next ship the Titus.....Departing 05 May.......who knows? ( i suppose i will..... on the 06 May )

Knowing my luck, it's probably booked on the S.S. Minnow.

Things are obviously not all that peachy with VW in regarding transport between the factory at Palmela and Bermerhaven, and who knows what logistical problems are happening at Bremerhaven for the loading to final destinations.

Of course in my case it may not be VW's fault at all. There could a legitimate reason .......may be no more red nappa cows left in the barns. Leight probably had the last one slaughtered for his Eos.

VW may even have a shortage of TDI DSG available for production....think i'll tell my dealer to change to 2.0T FSI with manual..... i know there is one coming with the rest of my spec on the Tombarra, and i'm sure the owner won't mind me exchanging orders with him.

I can tell he is really a closet TDI DSG man, but just won't admit it on a public forum. I'll just have to get used to how quiet the lack of torque is in the 2.0T FSI.

All jokes aside, VWA delivery time frames can't be a ideal position for VWA or their frustrated customers.

You can just keep your greedy grubby diesel covered hands off my baby you varmint

Can feel for you Peter. The ship with my car is even 1 day behind its original schedule

I was going to say something else but have decided if I can't say something nice not to say anything at all.

Update on my delivery. Production date was initially week 25 and delivery planned for late Sept/early Oct then production was brought forward to week 15 with delivery late june/early july. Informed yesterday that production now delayed to week 21 with delivery in late aug. Atleast its in the 'scheduled' stage so no more delays and will be built in that week.

Await for the next update in early june. Hopefully its built and also get the name of the shipping coy to track it.

Sounds like your dealer has given you a realistic delivery date of approx 14 weeks from production date.

Seems to be taking about 6 weeks to transport from factory at Palmela to port of Bremerhaven for loading......then approx 6 weeks to ship from Bremerhaven to Aussie and a couple weeks to transport to, and PDI at your dealer.

Mine is still sitting on the docks at Bremerhaven (could be a song in there)....patiently waiting for the nice people at VW. Assume they have a daily draw.... like the lotto.... hope it's my turn for them to pick my VIN # out of the VW shoebox. Soon as that happens i'am sure they'll find it in their hearts to load it on a ship to Aus..... any time in the next couple of the months will be fine.

Looks like my delivery date has blown out from early May to now the end of June.

        FOR TRACKING
All you need from your dealer is your VIN #, enter info in the following site.

Regardless what your dealer tells you, the above shipping site will confirm when your car is loaded.....and on what ship....and the schedule to your delivery port in Aus.

Just as well we know what is going on as no one at VW seems to be totally on top of things.

Sorry to hear about you delays. Well they have 23 days from the day my car arrives in Sydney tillthe end of the month so fingers crossed I will get it in June.

Just typed VIN # in W&W web site for the zillionth time......and hello.....car was loaded on May 10, on the good ship ELEKTRA. Ship has left port for a 42 day voyage to Brisbane.

Schedule has it arriving in Brisbane 21 June, so expecting delivery from dealer around first week in July.

It's good i paid extra as the ELEKTRA has enclosed under deck storage. They're safely loaded under the decks, not like the budget ship TOMBARRA with all those work experience kids are on board as loading crew. All the cars on the TOMBARRA are in open decks getting a daily rinse of salt as the waves crash over. Pretty bad storm at the moment of the coast of South Africa...apparently. Fortunate my car was rescheduled, feel sorry for anyone with a car on that ship.

All in all, the best part of 6 months from order to delivery. VW just need to sort out the delay between factory at Palmela and the port of Bremerhaven.

The rest of the timeframe is reasonable considering the world wide demand for the Eos, and the shipping distance from Bremerhaven to Aus.

Just got to decide whether to import from USA, a couple of Isofix car seats for the grandchildren .

Now now Peter...... you remember what your Doctor said about getting excited!

Maybe you should take a Bex and have a good lie down as you are obviously not yourself and rambling on with total nonsense.

Besides which everybody knows 'Elektra' is a cartoon character not a ship

Too many hours typing that Vin number into the W & W website I think. But hopefully this will stop you yelling out the Vin Number repeatedly during your sleep. I know your loverly wife would appreciate that.

              Seriously it's about time

A bit wary of doctors. Was on a cruise once..... was that sea sick that i just lay in bed geting tossed around like a rag doll.

Missus told doctor i had not energy and was just laying limp in bed. Doctor came in and by mistake gave me a injection of viagra instead of a sedative for sea sickness.

Was still as sick as a dog.......but at least it stopped me rolling out of bed for the next couple of hours.

Good new for you Peter, glad to hear your Eos is finally on the way. You will now be counting down the days till you see and touch it. Could be better than viagra.

                        Certainly sucks having to wait.

Hope that when the Tombarra passes through the eye of the cyclone, it will be able to surf on the storm waves from Durban to Brisbane (preferably bow first) in record time.

Wife saw an Eos yesterday for the first time. Up to this point she didn't know one even existed. Briefly spotted one whilst she was sitting on the back of our bike, and asked me if it was a Jetta coupe. I said it could be and ignored the topic. She said it was "sweet". Which is good.

Also saw the same one the next day. I just about fell of the bike when she pointed out from 40 mts away that it must be a hard top convertible, as she could see the roof joins.

Your 'Dear Wife' suddenly seems very well informed on all things VW Eos my friend. Is she trying to give you a subtle hint that your carefully crafted plans are not as secret as you might wish?

As to my Baby hopefully she had a good time in Durban but didn't get tempted by any South Africans with nasty designs upon her curves

Not exactly what I wanted to hear about the ship carrying my Passat. Looking at the Tombarra ( http://www.faktaomfartyg.se/tombarra_2006_b_1.htm ) the decks don't look all that open to me.
