Hi mate, i bought the Rallye cooler in the UK for 350 quid before i came over here, just havn't bothered putting it in yet. G-Werks have all the pipework available.
They are still available new from VW, but the Radiators are obsolete, mine came from ARZ Tuning.

Popped down to see the progress today, rear screen is out, rear quarters are out, no need to take the windscreen out as the trim will come off for painting a nice one will be going back on.
My spare room is starting to fill up with parts, still waiting on more though.

He forgot to fill up the side repeater holes, so thats being done tomorrow.
In 2 weeks it should be ready for putting back together ......

Hi mate, its getting done at a small place in Glen Waverley, i went all over the place trying to find someone then stumbled across this guy, 5 minutes walk from my house ! I'll see how it looks before i go recommending him, but i have seen his work and it looked awesome, he uses the best products and is very fussy.
I jacked my job in at Burwood and got another a bit closer in Clayton now so i can cycle to work btw !

                  May as well hey !!
I couldn't stand putting all the old worn out faded seals/trims back on, some of the fogs and indicators had small cracks, griil looked old and etc etc, next to the new paint all those parts would let it down i reckon, its an expensive game, and some of the parts are hard to come by. so many parts are now obsolete, bits have came from all over the place !
I want it looking mint basically, can't wait to start putting back together and getting the RS 301's on.

                    • Getting there, side repeaters deleted and smoothed ....

                      Rear Wiper deleted and smoothed....

Rear 8x17 RS 301 with half height centre cap and 195/40/17 PZero's, these rims were brand new (unused) until '04 ! So they still have the original BBS paint on the centres and barrels. Stroke of luck as BBS only made 200 sets of them !

                      • Nice to see you fettling this one back to mint condition Matt. I look forward to seeing it completed!!

So if you are doing the body, is the motor getting some chip and pulley love, to go with the Rallye IC?

                        • Hi Gavin, can't make my mind up on that one but probably yeah.

I'm thinking i'll rebuild the charger, then install the FMIC and rad.

I should put an oil cooler in there while i'm at it too.

Did either of your G60's run smaller pulleys ? What chip(s) did you have ?

I'd stick the rad and IC in now, no point in putting it back together without doing it. You'd be well pissed off if you scuffed your new paint. No point in handling the bumper more than you have to.

The oil cooler is a definite for me. My Golf one was too big but made a massive difference. I deleted the water/oil heat exchanger at the same time. That knocked 30 degrees off the oil temp in one go.

Mine was a kit from Thinkautomotive the Mocal manufacturers. I got them to give me an extra 50cm of pipe to give me more options for mounting. You also need to get a couple of water pipes to bypass the heat exchanger, assuming you want it to look factory.

The fitting kit is right down the bottom, then you need to pick and oil cooler. I reckon mine was 16 rows, about 6 inches high and 230mm wide. It was a bit much for the UK in winter and I had to cover it up with card board to keep the oil temp up.

Your cooling system will love it though over here.

I can't imagine running a std G60, they aren't that fast TBH. A 68mm pulley and chip makes them fly. I'd get a pulley off the net and an SNS chip off

I would happily rebuild your charger or talk you through it if you get a rebuild kit over here. It only takes a couple of hours. I have photos of how to port them as a stage 4 as well.

                            Gavin

                            • Cheers for that Gav, are you coming over for DOVW, would like to chat to you more, would be awesome if Nigel could bring his Storm over for it too.

Most people seem to use that SNS 5.5 chip and 68mm pulley, but i remember reading somewhere that there is a better one, i think Renshaws had it before he converted to 24V. I get put off by people saying how unreliable there G60's are, and they always seem to be the chipped and pullyed ones, mines never missed a beat, it has been ported to stage 4, would be nice if it was a bit quicker but i don't want any hassle.

                              • I am plucking up the courage to ask if I can come over to the show. 16 nov right.

If your charger has been ported already, you only need the pulley and chip.

The 68 is safe as IMO. You just need to keep on top of the charger, service more often. Every 3 years or 60k kms would be overkill really.

Oil changes are more important for it's health I think.

I don't know of any G60 chip that's had more development outside of VW than the SNS. The no-lag is great.
