So is there any other Corrado's over there ?? I'm aware of the 16VG60 4WD that lives in Brisbane and a LHD VR6for sale in unique cars but are there any more ??

Welcome to the forum... and to Oz

Can you please bring me a 1.6 turbo diesel engine and 5 speed in the boot??
I'm sure there will be other Corrados. I just missed out on a Scirocco last year. They will be personal imports like your. It's heaps expensive to bring a car to Oz if you haven't owned it for at least a year overseas.

        Importing

You need to have owned it for a year overseas, OR have a reciept that says it was sold for export to australia!

          Corrado

Thats a beauty. Bring it with you. I know of one corrado in Brissie. There are Mk3 VR6s about, some 1990-1992 5 Door GTIs and some private imports. Nothing from 1980 - 1990 except for the imports.

I`m currently building a Mk2 16v and have a Jetta Mk2, one of not many in Oz.

Grab a couple of 16v Engines, or 20v motors, they are worth lots more here than in UK.

Hi Jay !! Figured i would stay in the UK for the summer so i'm thinking September/October now. Been thinking about mods to do and really want to do the 16VG60 thing aswell after seeing yours. But it seems a shame to take mine apart cos its only on 55k, think i might get another to mod so i'd like to bring another at some point. How do you go about bringing your other one ?? I thought you have to own it and prove that you've used it 12 months ?? Or can you still do it on the 15 year old rule ??
Just gonna put a golf G60 FMIC, toothed belt system and Oil cooler in mine before it goes.....

Yes i suppose after spending the winter in the uk you might aswell spend the couple of summer months there too.
As you say it would be a shame to take your 8vg60 apart for a 16vg60 but it is well worth it. Problem will be traction so best bet is a LSD. 4WD is great but a lot of work and cost.
Luckly i bought the other corrado a few years ago so i can bring it in as another personal import.
Putting the FMIC in with a full width radiator is well worth doing as the little radiator struggle's to keep the engine cool. Oil cooler is a great idea too. I've got a 16 row one fitted and it works great. I drove from brisbane to melbourne a few months ago in temps up to just over 40deg and the oil temps were fine but the water temps were a little high. Wish i had air con though. Has your corrado got air con fitted?

Mine hasn't got A/C Jay so i'll have to keep the windows down !! I was over there in Feb and had a hire car which reminded me of how hot it gets in a car there so don't blame you for wanting it - think it was just the US spec C's that got it but sure could be done i guess - especially if you're capable of building 4WD 16vG60 !!!
Brisbane to Melbourne was a brave one mate!! Long way - guess you stopped and stayed plenty of different places (Sydney?) and got plenty of reactions to your Corrado !!
Think i asked you a long time ago but can't remember who you used to ship yours with ?? I'm getting a few quotes at the mo and Karman shipping seem to offer a good service - heard of them ?? Name made me laugh ! If not can you recommend anyone else ?? I want to get it booked for around 20/10/05.
                      Cheers !!

                        Cost of shipping

G'day! In a container? How much to get the car to Oz? At present looking at bringing in a container or part container of parts. AQIS is a real bummer however as they won't allow wooden pallets and have rules about steam cleaning and other quarantine protocols. Not that I'm complaining...Being a farmer I know the need for these precautions!

Hi mate - yeah it will come in a container - karman shipping will put it in its own container for £1100 or most other companies charge about £900 in a shared container. This included various other handling charges but not the tax and other stuff. Cool thing is i can fill the car up with stuff and it doesn't cost any extra. Before you ask i won't have alot of room left already !!

I would have fitted air-con a while ago but i have mounted the alternator where the air-con pump should go. I have just run out of space to put it. On yours it shouldn't be a problem. Keep you eyes open for any air con mk2 or mk 3 parts. Might as well bring the parts with you if your getting a container.
I shipped mine in a container but put all my furniture etc in too. I got the container too my house a loaded up outside. Tricky bit was building a ramp to get the car in there. It cost £1200 or so to brisbane port. I was thinking of putting the other corrado on a ro-ro ferry. I think it's only around £800 or less. Only problem is they won't allow you to have the car loaded up with stuff. I might go with what your doing so i can bring over extra stuff. Could bring over my vr6 24v engine in the boot .
