  • Painting semi-polished wheels

    Hi All,

I'm about to embark on repairing and painting my Passat's wheels.

The problem is, they are partially polished.

They have a bit of a strange polished look on them, in the big spoke-gaps (not the little spoke-gaps).

Will these turn out ok with a good sanding and paint? I reckon they'll look fine but need some reassurance.

    Thanks,

    Christian

      Oh sorry, that was unclear.

Nope, painting the whole lot. They are rashed to death. The rim of the wheel is also polished.

With the right preparation they will paint very well. Do not underestimate the amount of effort involved either! Cheers Al

Yep, I've painted wheels before, just never polished wheels. Thanks!

Probably machined more so than polished.
Give it the same treatment as the rest of the wheel,
Scuff it up with some sand paper, maybe a hi fill primer to try and hide the machine marks
