  • Whiteline sway bars for a MK3

After realising that my GL is deficient of a rear swaybar I have decided to find one for it, my first port of call is of course Whiteline.

One problem though... Can a VR6 swaybar fit onto a GL/CL rear track. To better help my question here are a series of pictures which one of the customer service officers have kindly given me of a VR6 with the rear bar fitted:

    Cheers, Branko

Rear suspension setup is the same throughout the Mk3 models. Pedro bought a Whiteline one during a group buy a while ago and it was only for $190. He's yet to install it though...

Yep was just for the fronts. And I think he still wants it haha. His garage is like a stockpile of Mk3 parts.

Im looking at some swaybars at the moment aswell. Really wanna lose some more body roll and stiffen the car up a bit more. Whiteline stuff is good, but I dont think they have put much effort into the making of some of their stuff. Can pick up sets of swaybars from the UK for around 400$ plus shipping (Weitec etc) which I would much prefer and going to look more into tonight.
Maybe we could work something out together Branko

Is there much difference between brands of swaybars?

I don't recall off hand how much, but Pedders do swaybars for the Mk3 and I'm sure they aren't all that expensive. (and they are nice and local).

Give em a call and see whats what.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Never knew they did stuff for MK3'. Hmmmmmm I wonder what their swaybars are like, hopefully nothing like their shocks or springs cos they are shocking (pardon the pun!) Can get Pedders stuff cheap cheap though

Hmnn interesting, thanks for that I to will be looking into the matter . Well I'm pretty sure even a 20mm sway bar is better than no sway bar

I'll have a look around online for anyone else local before I consider importing. The whiteline rear bar is $250, which isn't cheap by any standards but is still adjustable.

I was told by them they dontmake them, but one could be made for me, dont see the point of getting one made up. They wanted close to $400

                    I have a Whiteline on my VR6.
I am happy with it, noticed a big difference when I put it on
There is a BUT, they seem to have the wrong bolts with the kit and it wont fit.
A few calls later, they sent the right ones free of charge express post.
I know others have had the same problems, I was warned but it didnt bother me

I already have a 20mm rear sway on mine but I want thicker. Methinks I'll go a nuespeed one at some point. Wrong bolts is lame, LAME!

Does a swaybar come standard on the VR?

I'm looking at getting the 28mm ones nice stiff and well worth it I reckon!
I'm soo euro even my missus is shaved...

Adjustable or non-adjustable? Thats where the real flexibility lies.

Note Eibach only make 23mm swaybars but are adjustable. 28mm fixed ones just seem to me like a cheap short-cut to providing rigidity

Been looking at this Eibach swaybar kit, 22F 25R. Seems pretty well priced, just finding out how much shipping would be

Neuspeed makes 3-way adjustable swaybars in 25mm and 28mm for the Mk3. Highly recommended by those in the States.
