Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Budget Coilover FK vs JOM for Mk6 Golf

Hey fellas.... been looking at sets of coilovers more toward the budget end of town and I noticed that Vtech Australia have a sale on FK coilovers for $450

Ive had FK before although in a mk3 which were great and I know they are heaps popular over in the states especially in the stance scene

What I would like to know is if any of the mk6 or even mk5 owners are using these and if so what are your thoughts as obviously a set from a mk3 isn't comparable with a set in a mk6

For a ridiculously cheap price of $450 im not expecting them to ride like a KW V3 but just after some feedback and if possible a comparison to another entry level coilover from JOM

    Cheers

I had FK AK's on my polo when I bought. They'd been in probably no more than two years and likely set too low, but they were awful. Rank em with cut springs, as that's essentially the ride quality. Lots of secondary motion and handling sucked. Traction also suffered. I'd maybe consider them/something at this end of the market if I was selling the car immediately, but even than that's a bit evil.

      Keep saving.

Fk are great! JOMs are rubbish

Have had both in a mk3 and FK was way better

Have the FK streetlines in my mk5 and love them.

DAMN I just paid $500 for FK's from Dubtuned!

I'll let you know what they're like when they get here. I'll have my Polo sitting about 110mm off the ground, so not too low.
