Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I'm hoping someone can give me a part no. or advice.
I need to replace the rear shocks on my 2009 Passat TDI sedan. In Aust it appears that all i can find are Bilstien at a ridiculous price.
Is there any other brands or a part no. for the Bilstein so I can purchase OS?

    Cheers

Have you tried looking on ECS Tuning? They have Bilstein, Koni, as well as OEM manufacturers.

Have a look. Prices are good but you have to factor in the conversion rate and shipping. Most of the time its still cheaper than buying locally.

koni partno should be 8040-1352 (check for yourself).

I'm not sure what you mean by ridiculous...

If the rears are gone then the fronts not far behind

          OEM spec Bilsteins = $250/pr
          KYB excel-G = 220/pr
          bilstein Yellows = $450

Try eurocarparts.com they have OEM spec sachs & bilstein for about AUD100 plus shipping (no idea what they charge).

Micksgarage.com charge $24.50 delivery they have OEM spec boge ($250) , sachs, meyle ($110), optimal ($110) & kyb

Personally, I'd go with the Koni Sport Yellows if you intend to keep the car a few years.

I don't know anything about either of them.

They'll probably come in at about AUD1k
