Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Anyone fitted KW coilovers to their GTI MK6?

Was thinking of changing over to these over stock. Wanted to know if there was a huge difference to handling/ride.

You're best to be more specific as to the version of KW you're considering. What are you hoping to achieve by changing, just lower, or improved handling? What's your priorities and price point?
Track Car: 06 Polo GTI Red Devil mkII
    Daily: 2010 VW Jetta Highline
Gone but not forgotten: 08 Polo GTI

Price point anywhere between 1.5-2.5k. Looking to lower approx. 25-35mm plus much improved handling i.e. less understeer and roll. Am also happy with a firmer ride as long as not harsh. Been thinking about the Variant 1, as I dont intend on an changing settings too often..

I have Bilstein B14 installed but I think I'd like it a bit lower than the lowest B14 can go.
Coilovers handles better than stock specially in corners.
