Mk3 + Porsche Rims?

So whats the go with fitment of Porsche Rims onto a Mk3 VR?

Both of these are 17" x 9" in the rear and 17" x 7.5/8" for the fronts.

So will they fit (coilovers are coming)? Are any other panel mods needed for this size rim?

I have a set of H&R adaptors for sale. The Adaptors are:

• 2x 5x100 - 5x130 adaptors 30mm thickness
• 2x 5x100 - 5x130 adaptors 40mm thickness

Aaron, you shouldn't have a trouble, get a stretched tyre and you should be fine however you will need to roll your guards!

Just the rears anyway but they will do nicely

Safe stretch nothing stupid though, and after looking at the wheels possibly the 7.5 and 8.5 would be the go!

7.5 would be a 215 and the 8.5 probably a 235 you shouldn't have any rubbing issues with the adaptors and if you are leaving it at the height you want you will be fine!

So without the stretch it would be about 225 and 245's...

Thats pretty big... What size were your tyres with the porsche rims?

If you're changing from your VR wheels to 17" wheels, how out-of-whack is your speedo going to go? I'm thinking of putting 17's on mine but i'm afraid of the difference in overall diameter/rolling diameter

17 x 9 will not fit on a mk3 .... you will have issues even with stretched rubber... all the mk3's in the rieger catalogue with fat fitments only go up to 16" wide... correct me if im wrong steve

With those adapters, you would definitely need rolling/fender lip cutting to fit the rears, even with stretched tyres (195 on the fronts, 215 on the rears?). I reckon you can get away without pulling the fenders.

Just for reference, if you bought the first set of Porsche wheels, and bought Steve's adapters, you'd be sitting at 8" ET17 for the front, and 9" ET7 for the rears.

Ideally, with an 8" front you'd want an offset of ET18-ET28 for subtle poke/wheel sitting fender flush, and with a 9" rear you'd want an offset of ET20-ET30 for the same look.

Damn so many posts already... well, without stretch, it won't fit the Mk3 without major rubbing issues. Your arches will basically eat the tyres.

Your best bet is buy the wheels, buy 20-25mm adapters and hope for the best.

Nah you got a point there 16s, but you can get awy with 17s as ray said, with the second pair for sale with rolled guards not pulled and a nice stretch nothing rediclulous, you can get away with it!

Actually they're 15", sorry! It was just to show Aaron how much they will poke out. So what George was saying was right... 17x9's would be a bloody pain to fit, unless you want to go through the trouble (and MONEY!) to pull your fenders.

No chance at that you will need stretched tyres and rolled guards but I don't think that they will need to be pulled.

Aaron how low are you planning on having the coilovers set at?

Does your car have arch trims?
