  • 1.2tsi 6r polo bbk

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I'm looking into getting upgraded brake setup for my 77tsi 6r polo (my12.5) and was wondering if anyone knows if a kit for the gti polo would fit or if there is a different set that would also work? Have googled but couldn't find anything for the 77tsi.

    Thanks in advance
    Ben

Many VW/Audi/Skoda etc parts are interchangeable - so have you looked into the possibility of fitting the 312mm disks and callipers from a MK5/6 GTi on?

Plenty of Golf GTI owners do a BBK when they upgrade the power so theres usually a stock Golf GTI front brake setup for sale. (infact there was someone selling GTI callipers just yesterday).

those Tarox breaks look mad, but why are you throwing your money on brakes Deathlad? i find the stock set up is easily enough to handle the 77 even after the DNA tune

just my thoughts, would be cool to see some awesome brakes on a 1.2 though

I think the PCD only effects the rotors not the calipers and carriers.

For Lucas - my fiance has a 77tsi and you're right is a great package from factory and pulls up very well. But imo there is nothing like a BBK on a small zippy car. Is it over kill? Well yes. But since getting my Brembos on the front of my Polo, I have just as much fun hitting the stop pedal as I do hitting the go pedal. And my go pedal has tons of fast for a little car.

Absolutely, you need to match the discs to your car. MK5 discs won't fit they have a PCD of 112mm. S3 8L/TT 8N are 5 x 100. The calipers and brackets probably bolt on as mentioned though. I haven't looked to see but what size are the standard ones?

I have to ask what's the motivation for bigger brakes? My 9N GTI with Phase 2, has the std 288s and I don't feel they are inadequate. Lito has the same size on his MK4 GTI, with Frankenturbo and they held up over a couple of track days.

If 288mm is going to be big enough, then there's a set of 9N GTI calipers and brackets from vwindahouse's GTI knocking about. Send him a PM.

I'm thinking about swapping back to stock calipers on mine and selling my Porsche (Brembo) 4 Pot 312mm 5X100 brake setup - purely because they will be invisible under my new wheels and I really don't need them for all the freeway driving I do - I only bought them to go with my Porsche wheels.

Sorry for being a bit ricer, but it was more for the look of bigger brakes under the bigger wheels that will soon be going on the polo. I know I don't NEED them. But it's also nice to know that the car will be able to handle everything thing that gets thrown at it (moar power) without getting more power then being like 'sh*t, I can't stop now!'. But thanks for all the info guys. It's good to know people are so willing to help out.
