Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Nice shami!

    Check out these CH's

One of my favourite rims. And with V2s you'll have the car sitting very nicely on them.

These are my BBS CH 18s. They will look better when the car is lowered. They cost $2,900 from Melbourne Mag wheel centre for the 18s. I originally had 17s which cost $2,700
I am glad I didnt go 19s. The pot holes are deep enough to destroy low profile tyres down here!

That looks sex Andrew....where about in melbourne did u get em? Did they come with Tyres?? The quote i got was for almost $3500 without tyres. Im still tossing up whether its worth spending that much and more on a set of wheels....

Mag Wheel Centre is on the net. They were in Richmond, and that was without tyres.
          Good luck mate, Andrew

but you are altering the diameter hence you are loosing take off power but gaining top end.I notice a diff between my stockies and my 18's.
also make sure the wheels you buy have the correct load rating as most people forget the importance of that.

superlight you get the benefit of rolling resistance but if the diameter is so much greater then the benefit will not be as great.

honestly the ride isnt so bad and tyres are 35's. maybe because the roads out my way rnt so bad so i dont notice it. but yet take off definately feels a bit slugish.

Ive got 18s with 225/40s on them.
They are a little heavier but they are indentical diameter to standard (or very close) because of the lower profile.
Its only a touch slower by my pants dyno but the wider tyre and stiffer profile make it handle much better!

Just wondering, say hypothetically i have bbs wheels on my car...should i be worried that they will get nicked?

Im being serious...are they that sought after?

Not to the degree that they'd get instantly nicked if someone sees a set on your car! Use a good set of lock nuts if you're feeling paranoid.

Yes they are. Especially with the $1000k per corner price tag they carry.
