Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. So i called Gary at carshine... maybe i caught him at a bad time but he basically talked me out of buying from him. was quite short with me, i tried to explain the support the locals point of view, but he told me in no uncertain terms to get it from the uk seller. He cannot compete with their price at all. $575pw is his cost price of importing it from Germany, customs, duties etc. even when i asked about local warranty etc he said its not worth it. he said you (lewis) had sent him my response above so maybe thats why he was unfriendly? i really did try to give him the opportunity to sell me something but nada.

i also tried to ask him about suspension - told me to buy it from overseas too
asked about other brands of wheels for transporter that he might have to sell me - told me not to bother it's not worth his time.

i dunno, im shocked, so performancealloys.com probably has my business now.

        Oh dear...

The problem we have as importers is that everything we bring in is stopped by Customs. We have to use a broker to clear them and arrange payment of all applicable duties,GST,all manner of charges, levies etc plus pay the broker any professional fees. All these charges are substantial and add up and it is usually quite alarming how much our landed cost ends up at.

Sure,we get a discount from the supplier but all the charges we get clobbered with override it well and truly.

It is more than likely that your order will sail straight through Customs and onto your doorstep.I believe that it will be highly unlikely Customs will stop it but if they do,they will impose all these charges onto you too.

Sorry for the rant and I wish you all the best!

I'm not shocked one bit by this response. Not going into detail but that gentleman needs go back to manners school.

That is all I will say.

No you're not alone. In my 3 phone conversations with him there was no variance in his tone whatsoever. Far from a pleasurable experience.

Dotz Mugello Dark gets my vote. Borbets look far too OEM and utterly boring IMO.

The rims that ur looking at are well under so u shouldn't have an issue. I didn't have any issues. Wheels should be the same there as here pretty much. No one is gonna hassle a guy driving a van with rims.
I dealt with Tony from Performance Alloy's last October was really helpful and quick service. They used Brunei Airways to fly rims out included freight in price, all I had pay for the Qantas handling fee I think $130 from the Qantas cargo depot and customs duty that was around $640, still rim and tyre with customs was still cheaper than purchase rim alone in Aust.

so the time has arrived, did a service last week at 32K (2nd service) they tried to sell me some Nankangs for 185 ea (claiming my tyres were done) needless to say I said i would wait. I checked them all that afternoon and found none with less than 3mm on the wear indicators.

Anyway i think it's now time to start getting my options narrowed down with wheels and tyres, i recently saw these at OZZY.

but i dont think that it's right for the load rating? anyone help me out on that front? otherwise i'll be back onto performancealloys in the UK.
