I was gonna suggest moving/linking it here, good info. W-ALK added to the shopping list

These handling upgrades are far more cost effective than power lol, more fun too!

Yep! I drive pretty hard. Love the limit I found the bigger rear sway and castor kit made the limit higher. I need more camber on the front as it's eating the outside of the tyres now. But I have found alot of my grip problems have been the ****ty dunlops. I have a set of AD08's coming. It will stick hardcore then!

I am not to fault the brakes yet! but then again I don't really use them.

Also, when you're on the throttle, sometimes backing off a little bit when you feel the front start to push wide will help bring the rear around.

But I've never driven a R before only largely anaemic B3&4 quattros Bigger rear bars on those cars have helped immensely but with their nose-heavy nature, they always tended to understeer anyway... I think it's hard to get away from that in an AWD road car.
I have changed my driving style since, much better! But I need more still I'm going to go the haldex controller and send some more power to the rear.

I'm about to purchase a set of the H&R sways for my R along with a Unibrace for the rear hatch area. I didn't think the underbody one would provide as much of a benefit.

Didn't realise Whiteline had updated their website since I looked there last time. I know the WRX guys swore by the ALK's, don't know much about them but would add that to the shopping list if its a worthwhile BFYB gain. Plus fitting at the same time as the other stuff makes sense.
Unibrace sounds interesting. I think I will go buy one, where did you pick that up from?

        ALK is a winner.

OK.Sounds like you enjoy it a lot!
          I must admit I won't put the Dunlops on again.After P Zero's on everything I've owned,they seem very noisy and harsh riding.I might go to Pilot PS2 if I don't do P Zero's again.

Bought it to thrash, why buy a sports car to drive it slow, I have my X5 for that!

As for tyres the goodyear F1 asymmetric 2's are VERY hard to walk past for a all weather tyre, I would be all over it if I was not going a semi stick.

Good Idea not to go a pirelli, I did the p zero nero. What a fail of a tyre.

I find my R is fun staying within the speed limits or close to.It's getting harder though.X5's drive well.

I'll have a look at Goodyears again.I've had them on a few cars over the years,NCT's,Gatorbacks,F1 etc on all sorts of cars.

I've never been unhappy with my P Zero's.They're good in the dry, great in the wet, quiet, ride well and stay in balance.I have Michelin Sport Cups on a couple of other cars and they're great too.

I never break the speed limit, But on a track.. Well! I'm going to winton this weekend. I thought of taking the X5 on the track, just for a lol I would love to take my Lincoln But it does not stop at the best of times

The P zeros I had on a superchanged 330ci BMW. it was murder in the wet.

A Lincoln?????? You mean like a Continental?

                    Winton's a neat track.

Tyres are funny things. What works well on one car can be diabolical on something else.I've got an almost eclectic collection of cars and nearly all are on Pirelli.

A supercharged 330Ci would have been something!

Yep a 1973 Continental 7.5ltr V8 motor, she burns along ok. I have a XB GT coupe as well but I don't think I will ever get it finished, One of those projects.

Supercharging/tuning is what I do for a living, I get to mod some pretty sweet cars.

UNIbrace.com I'm only getting the hatch one for now.

I was told the ALK is good but on the track it eats the bushes associated with it and will require regular replacement, though not pricey. What has been your experience?

Everyone keeps saying the Haldex upgrade but I think I'll leave the nice predictable nature of the car as is to suit my amateur skills!

On the tyre front, have had good reports on those pilot sports from evo9 and ttrs owners, the dunlops were ok on the wet track but they didn't hold up great after a few laps in the dry. Not sure what I'll change to.

The Michelin Pilot Sport 2 (PS2) were an EXCELLENT tyre... for their day. They've since been superceeded by the PS3 though.

I know a lot of people say 'yeah, I've had good years before and they were soso or crap'. But seriously, that's like saying "I've had a Volkswagen before - a beetle, and it was crap". Technology moves on and companies make different products and sometimes they're great!

The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric pretty much started cleaning up as the best all-round tyre a year or so after the Michelin PS2 came out. Some mags would still award it to the PS2, some to the F1 Asy - it just depended on their "weighting" of scores and what they were focusing on.

Since then I've seen the PS3 take out the awards, as well as the Continental SportContact 5P (only suited to 19" Golf R's), and then since the release of the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2, I've seen them take out the awards too.

Thus far, I haven't seen a review which included the F1 A2 where it hasn't won.

I'd be considering those 3 (PS3, 5P, and F1 A2). But I'd be leaning towards the F1 A2, simply because once Tirerack get hold of them, they'll have it in such large quanities, that you'll probably be able to buy two sets for the same price as the others (Ok, maybe not that much better priced, but just check out the F1 Asy prices there compared to those other tyres! heaps cheaper).

Wonder how these tyres all compare though after a few laps on the track.

Evo Magazine usually reports on that during their tyre test round ups. I guess it depends on the magazine or body that's doing the study. Maybe someone should start a thread which collects (legal) links or summarise of the magazine roundups?
