Just found these amazing wheels for the 6 GTI, need some advice though!
I'm not sure 5mm will make a great deal of difference to the brakes (ET40 vs ET45) so I'd say you would be fine? I don't think they would offer you that option if it was going to be a problem. That will push the face of the rim out more, so make sure oyu are comfortable with that.
Also to be aware you may rub on a 235/35 tyre, even at standard height because the standard suspension isnt as firm as coilovers etc....so in some cases lowering on coilovers is better
No I fully understand offsets. What I'm saying is they're machining the backplate of a 35 offset down 5mm to make it 40mm, meaning the spokes will be 5mm closer to the brakes than standard. Might not sound like much but I had to use 5mm spacers on my Polo to clear the brakes. Don't want that same problem.
As for tyres, I'm opting for 225/35 R19's. I've been advised they will fit of 8.5's OK.
These are the other Rotiforms, MIA's. ET45 19x8.5. Dad opted for the 235/35 rubber to meet load rating requirements, it doenst get driven much so has only scrubbed once.
It's unfortunately not really a good measure as that appears to be the rear wheel he's putting his hand through, when it's the front brakes that are the only worry. Also, the spokes are very different and could have more brakes clearance than the ones I'm getting. I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and stick with the 35's. I can always get them machined here.
Congrat's on the V710's they are great.
Was going to get them for my tig but they couldn't get their act together and kept giving missleading info on what was available so i caved and got omanyt rep's.
Dom I've done a bit of research and people have fitted them with kuhmo ku31's in 225/35/19 with no probs. They are the tyres I have bought. They won't be as stretched looking as that as the ku31's have more of a square sidewall (wider tyre track) but I don't really want to go 215's because I'm getting the car chipped soon, need as much rubber on the black stuff as possible .
team_v I got an e-mail from the company saying last set of silver wheels are bent so I agreed to gunmetal. I wasn't really phased at the colour, both will look good with silver. Just didn't want black.
