USD300 for shipping might be bettered.

get some details on weight and dimensions of the package from the seller, and ask www.parcelsforwarding.com for a shipping quote

Thanks for all the help guys.

I will see if i can get the weight and dimensions from stratmosphere to work out shipping costs.

I will see if i can find any other options, don't really need to get them until May as the car arrives in June.

Looks like H&R or V-Maxx at the moment though.
My only issue is that V-Maxx lowers 60-120mm which may cause issues.
The H&R ones dont' drop as low but still give a nice drop and have a good brand awareness.

If 120mm is too low, raise it up?

But it can only be raised up 60mm which puts the arches level with the top of the tyres.
I would still like some off-road functionality hence the H&R ones which allow 25mm-63mm drop.

I have considered the V-Maxx ones but if i wanted to go super low i would have bought a golf instead.

Ahh okay, I had a look at hot-tuning but i didn't find any application for the tiguan.

Will probably go with H&R coilovers but the car doesn't get here until June so i have a few months to wait for pictures fo the v-maxx and H&R's at various heights.

Thanks for all your help guys.

As much as i would love to ride super-low.
I think i should show some restraint and leave the lowness to Dom and his B3 Wagon.

Will keep it in mind though.

I have seen pics of Tig's on H&R springs only and they do still sit a bit high.
I would prefer the guards to sit just above the tyres.
I found a picture of a tig on coilovers on vortex that inspired me.

Looks like coilovers for me then.

about time someone properly lowered a Tig
lowered properly?? there is still a good 30-40mm there before that is properly.

Trying to find prices through tirerack.
Also having a look at eibach coilovers.

If all else fails, it will be either just springs or VMaxx coilovers.

Just so you know - Bilstein PSS9s for my car were $3500 before fitting when bought locally. Bought via someone bringing them in from overseas, I got them supplied and fitted for less than $2500. If the guy you're thinking of is getting them locally, he'll be making bugger all margin on the product, and the labour is where he'll make his money - and you can do that with parts brought in from overseas.

As noted though, warranty CAN be an issue in that case - in my case, the fitter dealt with that side as well (they brought them in from overseas for me, and so they took on the responsibility of liability and warranty.
                        Nothing to see here...

There can be handling issues when you go low.

The control arms will likely be at a poor angle, droplinks (if the car has a stock front sway bar) will likely need to be upgraded.

There is quite a bit of info on the Forrester having these issues when dropped, worth a look.

A very good point - once you pass a certain point in drop, the geometry of the suspension components can become sub-optimal.

I would be looking at a front sway bar, and possibly rear sway bar upgrade as well, but i want to see how it goes with the coilovers.

There are a few guys on vortex running fully wound down coilovers and they haven't had any problems with the ride quality, in fact they say it is smooth.
