First link was taking ages so i ditched it. Here's my pick of the wheels for link #2..

I like these because i like the look of minilites..

And i like these because i like the look of BBS mesh wheels.

The others are OK too, but these would be the preferred choice if it was my money and my car.

They look ok apart from the offsets being nowhere close for a mk1

I did not see that size, only the +0, +10 etc

8"+25 is 35mm more poke than a 6" wide rim that is +35, something to consider. I know I couldn't add that much to my car without rolling guards.

There are others more experienced with this than me however.

8" at ET25 is great for a low mk 1. though if you are using coilovers, you may need to use a small spacer (say 5mm) to clear the front coils. You'll also need to run a smallish tyre (i'm think 185/45, but 195/45 or 195/50 may also work - again, depends how low you go) Arches will also need to be rolled for going low! (naturally.)

the work equip and SSR mesh ones will probably look the best Imo. but you'll have to be low to pull off the 'look', otherwise you run the risk of having the car look like an old roller skate

                  Sorry Jarred, a 15x8 et25 isn't great on a low mk1 at all.

To me a 15x8 et25 is way too much on a mk1 & you end up with all sorts of problems.

Especially if the mk1 is going to be low, you need to do more than just "roll" the guard lips. You need a pump them hard!

Even a 15x7 et25 the rims sticks out of the front guard & that's with a GTI wheel arch flare on.

Then add in another .5" each side!

Also, if fitting a 15x8 et25 with coilovers, you will need a spacer which again push's the wheel out further again!

I've been down this road many a time now & have had alot of different setups over the years incl. a 15x7 ET25 using coilovers & they only "just" cleared, but they did stick out alittle past the flare.

One thing I have noticed in "wheel size/offset" threads. Not one person ever talks about the back of the rim spoke/hub profile.

On a the front of a mk1 & alot of other euro cars, the brake caliper sticks out past the hub/wheel mounting surface, so you need a rim/spoke rear profile that allows it to clear the caliper.

I've noticed that alot of rims suited for cars like gemini's, toyotas etc have a flat backed spoke/hub arrangement, which doesn't clear the caliper at all & the rim just jams against it = no rotation

                  Hope this may help.

I can't comment on fitment on a mk1 sorry mate, but if it was for a mk1 of my own I would chose the minilite style wheel over those E50/Reverse mesh copies fake 2pce rims. I much prefer the look of stepped dish rather than flat dish; it makes the wheel look more genuine IMO.

                      ....
realistically, 8" don't "fit" on mk 1 anyways,. but if you're determined to go with an 8" wheel, Et25 is a good start, as opposed to ET0 or ET 10 (which ever the other ET's that were listed on the site)

My point about it being low, was that if it isn't low enough, it'll just look like the wheels dont fit at all. where as if it's low, and you have the arches rolled, and some stretch you'll be able to make them look as if they fit. If that makes sense at all.

No point going for an 8" wheel if you want to be super low. but if you want 8" wheels, imo, et25 is a great starting point. (i'm pretty sure I already pointed out the need for fender work, and spacers etc)

Tim makes a good point about caliper clearance. Even I had to clearance my calipers (only very very slightly) and I'm running euro wheels!

have to agree to jarred, test fit the wheels on the car today and +25 just clear the stud and calipers.guards will need to be done and car will have to be low to pull out the look.need to say any lower then +25 will not clear and this is good starting point... next is rolling the guards and playing with height for second fitting

quick question: buy installing coilover to you gain more clearance bettween wheel and old suspension at the back or is it the same? the wheel that i got just hit the spring on the old suspension so i thought that with coilovers witch i have ordered this will not be the issue or i am wrong and still need to use spacers ?

ok for refrence, i had 15x6.5's with ET25 i was coming close the the guards, and just fit nexto the coilovers, with 8 wide, your gonna have to roll guards AND space the rims out to clear the coilovers... ohh and keep the ride height about 1-2inches away from the tyre because theyll cut innto the guards...

sorry to shatter dreams but its a very hard thing to pull off

edit, just worked out that with my wheel specs i just told you... if your going 1.5" wider, with 8" ET25 you stick out 19mm both sides, so a spacer is most likley required and will push your wheel out even further.......
