  • Super Noob Question

    Hi All,

Recently got myself a 103TSI Mk7 Golf. I am trying to find out what is the difference between MIB1 and MIB2 units and wondering how do I find out which one I have? I tried googling, but I don't seem to be able to find the answer?

I am trying to update my Nav maps, which I found the forum thread to do this. Just need to figure out which unit I have. Also would like to find out if there are any firmware updates too.

    Thanks in advance, guys.

Go into menu and then to version information.
Post a screenshot or look up the info there.

Easy way: pull the USB card (left hand slot, inside glovebox) — MIB1 card is marked V1.

Thanks for that. Mine says V3. So MIB2?

@Kamold: That's exactly what I am trying to find out. How do you identify between both of them? Which will lead me to the next question, what is the difference?

V1 is the map version. Not the head unit.
Mib1 does not have appconnect ie Apple carplay Android auto.
              Easy to spot.
When you update the maps it will show in version info but obviously the card still had Vx on it...

Thanks for that Kamold. So I have an MIB1. I suppose this answers my ultimate question of whether I could get Android Auto on this, which the answer is no?

You would have to replace the mib unit in the glovebox and the screen.
You can't update an mib1 to add appconnect unfortunately.
