Email Notifications Failing (mostly Telstra)
Hello everyone. Seems there is an issue with Telstra (possible others) blocking email from our server. If you are trying to sign up I would suggest a different email if possible. If you're trying to reset your password and it fails please use the Contact Us page:
Hi guys our RNS510 died. It makes noise and try to start up with the vw logo but then shuts off and the cycle starts again. It's the B version.
Is it the HDD? Any advice guys? Thanks.
I had a similar issue to this recently - ended up getting a new Hard drive which seemed to fix that problem, but brought up another......
Some days the radio won't work at all, and I can only get it on by resetting the unit (often multiple times before it'll work, and sometimes that won't even work!)
I have tried a lot with it, but nothing has worked yet. I am now hoping someone here might know the answer!
My part number is 1T0035680D and currently have FW 4120 on it.
However I saw on another site that my part number equates to HW Vehicle 0xC801, 0xCA01 or 0xCC01
But my problem is on my system info I have a HW vehicle of 0xC201.
I don't know enough about this, but does that mean that the Hard drive that was installed is the wrong one for my system?
And if not, can someone advise what is the best FW to try for this unit? As it's my last hope at this stage!
According to a website i've found it gives this: HW Vehicle: 0xC201 – HW Radio: 0004 C6/C7 1T0 035 680 B (1T0035680B) Firmware version (when hardware last produced): 1300 Firmware version (unmodified releases): 1300 Firmware version (modified releases): 5269
This matches my HW Radio and HW Vehicle
However: HW Vehicle: 0xC801 – HW Radio: 0006 C10/C11/C12 1T0 035 680 D (1T0035680D) 1T0 035 680 F (1T0035680F) 1T0 035 680 G (1T0035680G) 1T0 035 680 H (1T0035680H) 1T0 035 680 J (1T0035680J) Firmware version (first and last release when manufactured): 3970 to 5269 Firmware version (unmodified releases): 5270 Firmware version (modified releases): 5270
Matches the delivery part number.
Does anyone know which is the most important factor?
Hopefully someone will be able to answer this Q as i've had this issue for a long time now with no joy!
Hopefully it'll sort it. I was told before that the CANBUS? won't take a programming which is causing the problem.
I don't know what it is really, but would that make sense do you think?
The canbus gateway is what connects different modules together like your ecu, transmission, head unit, cluster etc. It's not used in the upgrade process.
Older cars had an issues with new head units causing battery drain when the head unit stayed powered because the canbus gateway wouldn't tell it to shut down

Yea that was part of my problems recently. Constantly having a flat battery as the radio wouldn't shut down when the key was taken out of the ignition.
I got that fixed, but the radio still won't turn on with the key (not a big issue in general - but wondering would it be related to my issues in powering on the unit)?
What part number is your gateway and is it correctly coded?

When you say Gateway part number is that the same as "Delivery Part Number" that's in system information? In which case it's 1T0035680D and i've no idea if it's correctly coded, I didn't do it myself because I wouldn't know where to start, but i'm starting to think it's not!
There is no harm in upgrading (apart from the small risk whenever you upgrade anything that something could go wrong) it will at least have the latest software on there.
Be aware you will also need to reload your maps so have your maps disk on hand.
And it will delete the music on your HDD.

Great stuff. I will do that today or tomorrow so and hopefully it'll help matters!
If not I will try get a VCDS scan from somewhere!
