Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Bluetooth 9zz module

I've recently had the 9zz bluetooth installed in my 2010 R36.

I'm able to make/receive calls and stream music from my phone no problem at all. The issue I'm having is when I turn the car off, the screen goes off for a couple of seconds and then comes back on and shows the following on screens (in sequence):

"No network - no user connected"
    "Telephone initialisation"
    "No user connected"
    "Telephone initialisation"
    "No user connected"
    "Telephone initialisation"
    Screen then turns off

It takes about two and half minutes for this all to cycle through before the screen turns off and stays off.

I've had it checked via a VCDS cable and they can't see what's causing this to happen.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

    Cheers

    Do you use rSAP?
    If not, try disabling it.
Unpair your phone and then repair it with the BT module.
When prompted if you want to allow the bt module to take control of your Sim card (message will vary) say no and remember the choice.

I hadn't tried out rSAP so thought I'd see how that works....it doesn't. Although I was told that it would work with an iPhone 6, I now find out that's not the case.

I then deleted my user profile in the car and the phone and also deleted the user profile in the media player (car). I tried pairing everything again and am still having the same problem

Have never seen that behaviour, what head unit do you have?

RCD510 - I've even had a replacement module sent to me and it's doing exactly the same thing??

Maybe there is a software update for the rcd, but you'd need access to VW's online firmware system to update it.
The RNS luckily has firmware updates which escape into the wild via CD.

I'm told there aren't any software updates available for the RCD510? I'm going to get a 9w7 module to see if it has the same issue.

9w7 doesn't work with our steering wheel controls so you can't use them.
