Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Dynaudio Gen2 to MIB2 High (Discover Pro)

    Hi,

I did what I retrofit MIB 1 to 2 am however muted.

My golf came with MIB1 High (5G0035045B) with Dynaudio SoundSystem External MOST (5G0035456).

It seems there was an update on the SoundSystem External MOST amplifier module for MIB 2 High units.

Someone would know the new PartNumber the SoundSystem External MOST (Dynaudio) which is compatible with High MIB2 and where it is possible to buy?

It would be possible to somehow adapt the SoundSystem External MOST (5G0035456) for MIB2 High (3G0035044)?

    Regards,
    Alexandre

Alexandre : Good morning - you are a long way from home!!

I'm desperately trying to understand your story, but I'm having problems (but your English is much better than my Portuguese). Are you saying that you installed a genuine MIBII as a replacement for your MIBI unit? If so, how did you resolve the "component protection" protocols that VW uses to stop unauthorised changes of this type?

Not sure if you are aware of "component protection", but every time that the ignition is switched-on, the CAN Gateway (it's a central control module that directs the flow of digital data) in your car checks the registration numbers for some internal parts to see if they are the same as they were at the previous ignition switch-on. If these registration numbers differ, a component protection error is generated. The control module at Hex-address 5F (which is the MIB unit that VW calls "J794") is included in this checking procedure.

The component protection protocol is intended to address that black-market for stolen parts. Unfortunately, the only way to clear these errors is to take the car to a registered VW dealer that has a link back to the parent database. I understand that some third-party infotainment systems have defeated component protection, but if you installed a genuine VW unit, then it's almost certain that a component protection error will be generated (IMO).

One of the symptoms of a component protection error for the infotainment unit is no-sound. (or sound that disappears after a short period). Do you have access to a VCDS cable and can you check your car for error codes (DTCs)?
Might be a good thing to try before you go-out a buy an new MOST amplifier

    Obrigado e boa sorte

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the wider expertise of other forum members! Thank you.
