Replacement for RNS501

It looks like the RNS501 in my Passat is cactus. VW will be having a look on Friday to confirm. I'm not paying how ever many thousands it costs for a replacement as I don't particularly rate the unit and don't use the antiquated satnav anyway. Can anyone recommend me a relatively cheap replacement unit, preferably from a reputable company. I only read need something for playing music that fits in the Passat, doesn't need to have sat-nav, bluetooth etc

Go to Autobarn or similar and look at the double Din units. Plenty of them to choose from about $500 maybe for a good one but you can probably get an RNS 510 for $850

You mean a second hand RNS510? Just try local wreckers?

Yes but get a European one not a Chinese one

I recently installed a RNS-510 P in my Tiguan, but on the shortlist was the new Alpine ILX-007e Apple CarPlay head unit. It's reasonably expensive, but if you subscribe to the Apple ecosystem, then this would be an interesting install.
