  • Mdi iPhone 5

Hi I just bought an aftermarket usb mdi cable and after updating firmware am able to charge the phone via usb. If I buy the lighting adapter can I use the iPhone like an ipod via the rcd 310?
    Cheers

I'm not sure this is correct.
I don't think the MDI-USB cable can be used as an iPod/iPhone cable.
It might charge the phone, but no audio or metadata.
I think you need the MDI-30pin or newer MDI-Lightning cable.
Love to be wrong, but that's my recollection
Tiguan MY12 118TSI, white, no frills..... Had ANS810 ... Note the HAD ..... Now got RCD510 supplemented by 7" Android TomTom mounted on a HoldMyPhone .... Upgraded speakers Vibe BlackAir front splits and MBQuartz 12" ported sub driven from Infinity Reference 5350a amp .... oh and added fun

Nope. USB doesn't work with iPhones or iPods. You need the 30 pin or lightning connection plug.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
