  • Where to download the maps from?

I visited VW Barloworld in Five Dock yesterday only to be told that they dont sell the maps DVDs anymore.
They told me to visit WhereIs website and download it from there.

So I went to whereismaps.com and I choose Volkswagon (sic!) from the list only to realize there was no Tiguan in the list.

Can you please point me to the right direction, from where I can download the latest Australian maps for my RNS510?

I don't believe they can be purchased online. Several VW dealers still do stock them - it's a standard VW part.

They're also available from forum member VWParts for a great price ($55): RNS V7 Maps

2005 MkV Volkswagen Golf 2.0 FSI Auto

Barloworld said due to licensing issues, they don't sell the discs anymore and I have to download the maps online.
Why would an official dealer mislead me?

I hadn't heard of that but quite possibly true if whereis has it available on their website. I would just use a VW Golf as it's exactly the same RNS510 unit.

Be interested to know how much they are charging for it. I'm sure there are DVDs around as I know my local dealer haas them.

It may be that this dealer doesn't want the hassle.

Whereis only has the old style maps I have tried several times and the ones we now use are not on there and you have to buy the DVD

There's also a guy on vwgolf that is in breach of copyright. VW may not pursue it but if Sensis own the data they may look to prosecute these individuals.

It doesn't cost that much to purchase a legit copy. I don't know why people are so averse to paying for it.

He probably is. I'm just making a statement of fact. If the OP can't find somewhere to buy them then it's an option.

I wasn't looking for an opinion of the ethics or legality of the process.

It's more about ensuring that the forums don't get caught up in any legal action.

I'm surprised the guys at VWGolf aren't on top of this issue.

Mine just arrived today, thanks to VWParts.
It is surprising that the same dealer have two locations and one says they don't sell it any more, the other is still selling it.
