Thanks guys, got mine Thursday only really two days from order. As I said in another thread, we need to pressure VWA to provide TMC support though, this nor any official release has it

Here is a bit of discussion, a tmc version existed but never made it out to public: cd_7703
Australia/New Zealand Maps v4.2 available? - Page 2 was a couple of years ago now

A few of us have looked at the Europe maps DVD which does have TMC and it looks like a very complicated job to add for what realistically won't be a lot of benefit given the user feedback from those who do have it here. I'd rather have no information than be given misleading information. Check the app store for Vicroads (or interstate equivalent) traffic info app. Takes a minute to check conditions as you walk to the car.

Yes with the Mk7 you are just turning the feature on by means of adding a decryption code, with the MK6 RNS510 there are no files on any of the versions of the map disc to drive that feature.
The European map disc has a TMC folder full of street/motorway names and various traffic descriptions all in various languages - none of that exists on the Australian map disc.

Yes, but there is one Aussie map disc out there that *does* have the TMC structure, shame it never went public.

it seems very elusive..i am not sure whats the big deal why they don't put TMC structure on the disc map..Maybe someone will extract map TMC from mk7s and hence compile it for rns510...

Big deal is that money has to change hands with Suna... as far as I am aware, the systems between mk6 and mk7 are very different, no chance of getting anything from the mk7 maps unfortunately

My understanding it was for trial purposes only and was for the V5 maps (so is out of date anyway)...

Bought my V7 maps DVD for $55 from the dealer (a few months ago now)..

I'm with you mate, not sure how a $55 part from any VW Dealer's parts dept turns into a deal at $69 .... but maybe that's just me.

It's all about demand and supply.
The seller has the right to charge anything they want (cost plus profit) and you as a buyer have the right to buy from them or buy it cheaper from someone else. I purchased mine from VWParts for $55 plus postage ($8.80).

I'm more than happy to pay a few dollars more and support an independent. There would be no way that VW would be at this price without them.

Nothing against the independent at all - not everyone has easy access to a VW Dealer and the independent has to cover the cost of postage etc. as well... I think though the real reason that the maps are cheaper now than they used to be for the early versions is the existence of illegal downloading... The early versions of the RNS maps were ludicrously expensive... I think that $55 (or $69 for that matter) is reasonable enough to buy a legitimate version so I did... This equates to less than a tank of fuel really..

Yes, but if we could get our hands onto that Aussie disc, it would be trivial to incorporate into V7.

And you get delivered by courier to your door.
Not all VW dealers do them for $55 anyway as this is wholesale price. VW in Brisbane and Sunny Coast charge retail about $99
