  • Climatronics issue- hot air one one side whilst using AC

Strictly speaking belongs in a model discussion but as its a shared component amongst many cars I decided to plonk it in here...

In the Octavia have run into an issue with the climatronics:
On a few occasions, while in dual control mode with AC running in cool mode, the drivers side has randomly started blowing hot air in my face. Passenger's side stays in cooling mode.
Happened today so I just pressed the 'auto' button which just flips the LED indicator across from one side of the button to the other (to be honest I don't know what this button function is for...if its already on auto it just seems to flip to the LED in the button which is not lit).

Just wondering if anyone has experienced a similar experience?
It could either be a temp sensor module in the driver's foot well misbehaving or perhaps an issue with a servo for the blend flap I guess.

Its annoying in that I'd have to drive around with the laptop on the passenger's seat on the odd chance that it might recur so that I could take some block measurements with VCDS...

If I take it into a dealer they are just going to find no fault. So wondering if anyone might have come across a similar situation that they were able to resolve?

    Thanks

    Should log faults.

I've had them in Golfs crap the vent temperature sensors. Componentry is much the same.

If it is logging vent temp sensor codes, swap the offending one with the one from the other side, and see if the fault moves.

If it's the blend flaps, try performing a basic setting and see what happens.

Thanks I haven't actually done a scan yet will do tomorrow.
Will swap the temp sensors over that's a good tip to isolate if it's motor or sensor.

Upper ones will be easy to get at once you pop the trim covers off the ends of the dash.

Lower ones, I'm not so sure.

I didn't fully explain in the first post sorry...only drivers side blows hot, then it goes back to normal cooling again. Last time it started cooling again as soon as I pressed the Auto button.
Just did a scan - no fault codes.
I ran the flap motor align sequence and it completed OK. So none the wiser at this point.
