  • Need pin code for Bolero/RCD510

I bought a Bolero HU off one of the forum members. Fitted it & it's asking for a code.

Can anyone help out - I can link you photos of the partno, etc.

Both seller & myself are equally surprised as we both had the same HU previously & our vehicles are the same spec & he wasn't asked for a pin when he put it in his car.

    thx in advance

The unit only asks for the pin when its connected to a car with a different VIN. Once pin has been entered it wont ask again even if removed, battery changed etc.
If you dont have the pin on a card you need to get it from a dealer.

The owner of the car can contact the VAG dealer with the unit serial number and his vehicle details and they should be able to give him the PIN code.

        Indeed you are correct.

Was hoping someone with dealership links might be able to help out.

I had a similar problem when I sold my RCD310 a while back.

What some dealers will do is record the PIN on the dealers file when the vehicle is delivered. Not always but sometimes. So you can ring up the dealer that originally delivered the vehicle with the VIN for the car and see if they have the PIN on file. If you're lucky they will.

If not you'll have to hope they know their way around the systems to get the PIN off the global database - which they'll need the serial# off the unit for. This should be a 2 minute exercise for someone that knows what they're doing.

For when I sell my Audience HU - can you get the pin via VCDS?

Nope I don't believe this info is available... but stand to be corrected.

Go to the dealer next service/warranty job and ask them for it.

Pin is not available with vcds, would kind of defeat the purpose of having a pin

You can also get your PIN on ebay, just search for it.

Hey Brad, if you would like to order one of those codes I will be more than happy to reimburse you for the cost as is only fair. I'm a little weary of going to a dealer as 3 of the dealers that I called today either have 1) never done it before and will try to figure it out 2) don't think its possible to retrofit onto a different car as it did not come standard =_=. Let me know what you think, whatever is of the least hassle to you!

                      Cheers.

PM sent to Bushnut. Fingers crossed as there's only 1 entry attemp left.

While I'm sorting through these minor issues, the aerial connector is slightly different. All input welcome
