Tried plying some music via USB last night. All tracks were playable but the system did not recognise the albums.

cox11:alipoo is entirely correct if you are using a bog standard memory stick (and likely you will be using this type of stick). However, if you have the newer style SDXC Card, then you need to format using eXFAT (Extended File Allocation Table) protocol.
