Hi all, my brother in law also bought an Octavia same time as me. Both our cars had to be fitted with reverse sensors by the dealer on delivery. I found out last week his reverse sensors have the on screen display when activated but nothing appears on my screen. We both have the same sat nav unit. Have our different dealers fitted different reverse sensor packages? Why does nothing show on my screen and can my dealer fix this? The beeps work fine in my car but nothing on screen. Gonna call tomorrow but thought I'd ask the real experts first

Reverse sensors question
From my limited knowledge
May just need to be coded or they may have used a cheaper system that won't communicate with the sat nav unit
I wanted to have parking sensors fitted but the just before (a couple of days) I was about to give the go ahead apparently they weren't ones that would work on screen - even though that's what I told them I wanted all along.Last edited by OctaviaKid; 05-02-2014, 08:56 PM.

Hi,
From my understanding, having recently purchased mine, it goes like this:
If you buy the spec level where the reverse sensors are standard then full integration occurs.
Buy lower spec and get them fitted as a dealer fit option, then no integration with the screen. The dealer will fit which ever ones he likes.
Perhaps integration is possible with recoding, maybe depending on the specific sensors
Cheers
Steve

Cross your fingers and hope they just didnt do the coding correctly, but used the factory OPS sensors.
If they are aftermarket they won't do integration. THey need to be a parktronic unit that can communicate over the CANbus to the headunit to do the display.
If the dealer cant help just get a scan done with VCDS and if you have the parking sensor module installed it just needs to be coded on the head unit.2011 Skoda Octavia vRS TDI DSG wagon|Revo Stage 1|Race Blue|Leather|Dynamic Xenons w 6000K|9w7 BT|THA475 Amp+active sub|Whiteline ALK|RVC|

So can you get the right module and connect it to any sensors and it will work???? If so I will be very grumpy with my dealer because they to me if not factory - not possible for integration. Sorry if I misread that completely hahaOriginally posted by kamold View PostCross your fingers and hope they just didnt do the coding correctly, but used the factory OPS sensors.

My two cents. If you bought rear parking sensors form a dealer on a new car, and they dont integrate with the head unit. I would be going back to the dealer and saying, fix it. Unless the dealer specifically told you that the sensors would not integrate with the unit, then you have all rights to believe they would behave as per the manual, in which they come up on the display.Originally posted by Harpoon View PostWe both bought identical cars both had reverse sensors fitted by the dealers (Essendon and Brighton) so the conclusion is likely he got factory sensors I did not? Didn't get a chance to call Skoda yet to ask...
Dealers problem, Dealer has to fix. Not your problem if he tried to take shortcuts, but if he did, then you have grounds for misrepresentation as buying new from a dealer with sensors fitted by the dealer indicates they should work as if fitted by the factory, unless you are given something to sign and acknowledge that the sensors would not perform as normal.2001 - A4 B6 1.8T Sedan Manual - (sold @ 254,000km)

You'll have a list of all the factory fitted codes/options in the service manual and this info is also located in the boot floor.
It will look something like this:
This sticker shows lots of info about that vehicle - it may not be exactly the same but gives you a good guide of the type of thing you're looking for.
All you have to do is decode the 3 digit codes to work out all the options your vehicle had fitted at the factory.
The engine code for the vehicle above is BWA and the transmission code is JLW along with the paint code under the engine number LB9A.
If you want to know what all the other option codes are from 3 down then type them into VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda Option Codes Decoder. These Option Codes will tell you what was fitted to the vehicle when it came from the factory

When I took my car in for an update to the maps and version update (after 4 years), the dealer mucked something up and told me that a "control unit" needed replacing. I was still getting the beeps but the on screen image on my rns510 had disappeared. Cue a couple of weeks later when the part arrived from Sydney, they fixed it and all was good.
Just saying this as another possibility to consider for your scenario.'09 Jetta 1.4 TSI 7spd DSG in Platinum Gray

Turns out they fitted non genuine sensors and it does not have the functionality. I argued with the sales manager that we were mislead that the sensors are the same as the standard despite being non genuine parts. Too bad for me though.... nothing they can do now.

I know someone who had the same thing happen.
I have a VW with the parking sensors displaying on the screen
They have a Skoda with just parkin sensors no display.
The difference is that mine has what they call "Optical Parking System (OPS)" what the Skoda has is just aftermarket parking sensors
You'll find when discussing with the dealer that they never offered you OPS they only offered you parking sensors.
Unfortunately (and i really feel for you) there isn't much you can do.
Lesson learnt: If your looking at buying a VW/Skoda request the Optical Parking System not just parking sensors. If you request OPS and they only provide parking sensors then they have to fix it.Last edited by dunners; 17-03-2014, 12:49 PM.2009 Passat CC TDI - With everything minus reverse camera

Id be taking it up with Skoda Aus. The fact is that a dealer is fitting non-genuine accessories and likely charging genuine price (unless it's specifically written into your contract that it's non-genuine). Where do you stand with warranty then if there is ever an issue??? No other dealer is going to want to touch it and Skoda Aus certainly won't warranty the aftermarket sensors.Originally posted by Harpoon View PostTurns out they fitted non genuine sensors and it does not have the functionality. It wouldn't be the first time a dealer has tried to cut corners and pocket the cash.
