Media in MDI adaptor cable RNS510

This question I suppose has been asked before , I have a VW golf Gt 2008/09 fitted with a RNS510 C, I suppose its from a 2010 or latter, I can't seem to find on that's suitable for a 2008 golf there all 2009 or latter.
Or should I just take a chance and see if it will work ?

That will work Its the unit rather than the car year that matters.

I bought that cable but it does not fit my vehicle ,as it has a iPhone connection already in the glove box but its not compatible ,so what do I do to correct the situation ?I'll have to send that cable back as its no good to me .picture of glove box cable.

That's isn't the same cable as the one on Ebay is Black like the one I had and that one is white If you have an Iphone with the lightning connector it wont fit

Is that all just kick it off the screen I have a Uniden Charging pad that used to say that but I just kicked it and it charged Ok

No I want to play some music off my IPhone not charge it ,but looking around I found this .could this work ??[If I plugged this into my ipod connection ???

If you have an MDI connection it the glove box you should be able to use the black cable you posted in your original post.
It goes in with the cable to the right and connects to your iphone .

I had one in the Passat but rarely used it as it was in a dropdown box in the glovebox and a pain to use.

I have my music on the HDD in the nav unit and also on an SD card.

Sold the cable when I swapped phones.

What I meant about the power pad was the phone used to show a message saying that "the attached ??? was not compatible" so I just cancelled it and it still charged and meant if you get a similar message with the MDI cable cancel it and see what happens.

Maybe the MDI unit is not enabled in VCDS.
If that white cable is already plugged into the MDI it maybe should work unless its just a charging cable otherwise the black one should as its the same as the one I had
The one you have just posted only transfers from the headphone connector on the phone doesn't it Not much good

Was the head unit installed from factory or installed after?

Have you unplugged the cord that is already in the car before installing the new cord?

I.e. unplugged the other end of this plug

drad81 When I bought the Golf Gt it came with the RCD 310 and had the IPOD cable ,I installed the RNS510 about 4 years ago,but now I was wanting to use a iphone 4s but its not compatible ,There are 1,000's of comments on google with people with the same complaint , I guess i'll just have to live with it , I might test my grand daughters ipod and see if that works .

I'm no expert in this but it may have something to do with the new head unit then. You might need to get someone to plug in their VAGCOM (or what ever it's now called) to let the car know there's a RNS510. Try messaging kamold, he's pretty knowledgeable with this stuff and might be able to help.

That could be the problem ,I have a friend coming tomorrow to cancel a Airbag warning light ,I'll get him to check it out .thanks

I got hold of an Ipod Nano and plugged it in ,on the screen of the ipod there was the VW logo but no sound , I then went to the set up menu and under Media I disabled the AUX, Guess what the Ipod started playing but only in mono the music was ok but the vocals were very low , So I then connected the iPhone and it also played with the AUX disconnected but the same , while it was playing I again went to the set up and clicked to allow the AUX and the music stopped ,Its got me beat ,any one got any thoughts ?
