Best way to get a usb on RCD500

Hi guys,

I have a Golf GTI 2007. It has the standard RCD500 unit and when I bought it, it came with an iphone4/ipod connection. I looked into it, and the iPhone connector is plugged into some little box which is then plugged into the head unit. Im wondering is there a way I can swap that iPhone connector cable for a usb cable? Is that possible?

If that little box is an MDI unit then yes, you can get a USB cable:

Have a look at the cable, see if its removable and has a connector that looks like the one in the link.

I don't think it's a MDI because is doesn't have this sort of plugin, the part of the iPhone cable that plugs into the little box is round..

So its something aftermarket. Unless you can find out what it is then we can't offer any advice...
