  • Help! Rcd510

    Hello,

I have purchased an RCD510 Bosch off eBay and am picking it up tomorrow. It comes with all adapters and cables which is good. I managed to pick it up for $250.
However, In the ad, the seller mentions that I will need to code it to my vehicle (2011 77TSI) however, from what I've read on the forums its a straight plug and play swap. Will I need coding or is the seller clueless?

The unit comes with the security code.

    Cheers

You will need to do a bit of coding for perhaps the CAN bus (probably not actually,e.g I put a different HVAC in and the CAN bus worked this out), and to stop errors like speaker monitoring, amp detection etc (unless the speaker config it came out of was same as yours).

      Thanks heaps for the insight.

The seller has just told me that it came out of his Mk6 GTI - will that mean no coding is needed for speaker config?

It may work as it should straight off the bat.

Most of the fault codes people see aren't actually noticed until you scan it looking for them.

Plug it in, and see what happens. If everything works as it should, carry on.

          Thanks heaps,

Hopefully this is the case as I don't have VAGCOM and won't have access to one for a while.

Hoping someone can help me out here,
After two days of having this unit in working fine with my sub/amp today when driving I noticed my sub wasn't working, pulled over to find my amp not getting power at all, any idea what could have gone wrong and how I can fix it?

              Parts installed are:
              Rockford Fosgate mono block
              Rockford Fosgate punch p1 sub
              PAC SOEM-T line converter

              Thanks

Start with the basics, like power input cable.
With VCDS coding, you can change the RCD to output line level rather than speaker level, negating the need to use the line out converter.

                  Thanks heaps,

Took my headunit out and had a bit of a looksie, seems like it's my line converter that's playing up, because when I moved it slightly the amp turned on.

Wish I had VCDS to do the coding but right now I can't afford it because I'm saving for a decent set of wheels and coilovers. But VCDS is definitely on the list.

Just get someone local to do the coding for you. I'm sure there's another member nearby. 5 min job.
