Hi all,
I have an 05' Golf gti currently with an MFD2 navigation head unit, factory blue tooth and 6 CD stacker. I bought an ANS-510 (More info) and swapped out the MFD2, but introduced a batter drain.
I know that when retrofitting an RNS-510 into an older car like mine requires, a newer version CANbus, but the reason I got the ANS instead was so that I wouldn't have to upgrade the CANbus. Several other users with similarly aged cars (found in the link above) have had no issue, which leads me to believe it is not a CANbus related issue.
I was advised that, since I have factory BT installed, not having it connected into the ANS but having it coded into the car would cause a drain. However I've tried disconnecting the module and decoding the BT, but it didn't solve the problem. I've also found in my search for a solution, that retrofitting an RNS requires the removal of the compass module (which I have). Could this be the source of the problem? Does having modules disconnected but still coded actually cause drain issues?
Any advice/guidance or a point in the right direction would be very much appreciated.
