How connect usb stick to RNS-510

I have rns-510 and i do know how connect usb ...
Also, what is mdi mean...I have already cable in glove box which allow me to use iphone..
Any suggestion regards usb?

You need to buy a usb mdi cable. It replaces the iPhone cable. Get one from eBay not from a dealer.

As Kamold says The cable you have only charges the Iphone Buy this if you DONT have an Iphone 5

Otherwise stick the music on an SD card and poke it in the hole in the front of the RNS

FWIW the iPhone/iPod cable allows me to play lossless music. The SD card doesn't. I suspect the USB would have similar limitations.

I also find it quite handy to use SIRI to play tracks by artist/playlist or album.

Exactly as I just posted but it isn't a USB termination on it It only connects an Iphone to the socket in the glovebox.

If you must use a stick or similar it would be easier to use a card for which the socket is already there As far as lossless is concerned, you aren't exactly playing it in a concert hall so why worry.

Its just background noise for me and I concentrate on the driving. LOL

Thank you for your help..probably I will stick with sd card and copy all staff to rns-510 hdd ..still got 15 GB

My car came with the USB MDI cable only and not the iPhone cable. It works fine, but is easier to copy from SD to internal HDD or use my phone Bluetooth.

I bought this to try out Music Interface MDI MMI to USB Cable Data Sync Charging Adapter For AUDI VW DW | eBay
Plugs in ok but my 32GB USB stick isn't recognised by the RNS-510.

What file system is on the USB drive?
Has to be FAT32 for the RNS510 to read.
