  • T5 Bluetooth not detecting phone

    Hi

I fitted and coded a factory bluetooth unit into my T5 and it wont pick up my phone.

has anyone else had this issue before? and any ideas on how to resolve before I go chasing my money back?

I told you the Chinese ones work out of the box no coding just put your phone in discovery mode find the Bluetooth of the car unit and then enter the four zeros or 1234 works perfectly .Sorry mate you have been through quite a few dramas over this one .

I don't think that this is what he wants to hear mate. I have the Chinese unit that I'm selling at the moment. It's a disaster to live with. full of bugs and no decent radio reception. But, yeah, the BT is the only thing that works in it.

Okay transporter I will admit that some of the Chinese units may not be reliable as others but as I have said we are happy with all the ones in our last four vans , as a matter of interest I have stuck with one supplier as they seem to be very good to deal with . Yes radio is a bitch but I never listen to radio , I tend to play MP3 discs or Cd's or stream music via Bluetooth . I love the fact that ours has the GPS working in the background all the time it reminds me if I am over the limit and screams out a warning near speed cameras regardless of what I am listening to . I actually fitted a Chinese unit to a PT cruiser for one of my sunroof customers last Friday just loved the brand name the lady bought Kooltron !!

I'm trying to connect to an S3. Every clip I see on connecting phones uses the steering wheel remote. Does the fact mine doesnt have one change anything?

hmm I"d have to check. how do I find out?

And how do you pair the phone without the steering wheel controller?

well..what kit did you buy to do the install? and yes you need steering wheel controls and white display dash to pair the phones on a new kit! if it was a old nokia kit then you dont as it was a answer only kit and just seeked and paired...newer kits need you to seek and accept code via dash! sounds like you have installed a 9w7 or 9w2 kit that wont work without dash....I converted a 9w7 kit for my older jetta and had to fit the control unit into a newer car to pair up phones then put it in mine and used RNS510 screen to control calls...

Oh ****. So I need to use someone else's car to pair the phones? And im assuming the old nokia kits won't pair with a samsung s3?

Any other options to get this to work? Assuming adding the controls would be a massive headache?

                        hi mate,
Easy solution - if you have 3C8 BT and no MFSW - swop it for 9w7 and it will work for you
3c8 only works with Multivan if you have MFSW
VW Bluetooth is always the best choice but you need to make sure you get the correct one for your vehicle.
Why would you buy a premium German car and get a Chery-quality Bluetooth for it? You are better of with a Parrot from **** Smiths

I did the coding only for the OP's himself installed RVC (aftermarket with the video converter) and BT kit. There was no probs to code the RVC, but the VCDS doesn't see the BT kit properly and there are lot of errors related to the 77 address, so it's either dud bt kit, mistakes in wiring or not suitable. It was dark and getting late when we did the job, so I didn't investigate further.

no disrespect guys, but this shows that sometimes its worth to invest a couple of $$ for professional installation and coding and professional local advice prior to your purchase.
This gives you warranty, piece of mind and you can always return the product for exchange or refund.

I'll rip the unit out tonight to get the part number.

What's the part numbers of the older Nokia ones? And do they just do calls or stream music too?

Wrt the professional installation, the BT was plug and play so it's either not compatible or faulty wiring kit. Ironically the RVC was soldered into the power and can high/low wires.

Liquidforce, what is your perspective on next steps for diagnosis?
